This will be so interesting to see and also whether it feels dated. I loved The Golden Girls and watched it every week. Definately going to get a series link. Thanks

I watched it through a couple of years ago, I've always had a soft spot for it but I still enjoyed it! Strong women with great lines, always a good thing 😀

Anyone who loves Golden Girls should watch Hot In Cleveland too. Very silly, but such strong female talent bringing it all to life.

I can see from the schedule that Channel 5 are starting their Golden Girls run on Monday with the pilot episode. If you’re new to the series don’t necessarily judge it by that one - it changed quite a lot after the pilot

Oh I don't know, it's generally considered one of the most successful pilots of all time on US TV.
Sure they get rid of the gay cook, though most of his scenes were cut before broadcast anyway, Sophia's look and attitude changes and some of the rooms change location but it arrives pretty well formed.
I have the whole lot on DVD and it holds up pretty well, you forget how much they got away with for the time. Their gay story lines are a lot more progressive than other sitcoms of the era for example and really the joy was always in the interaction between the four actresses with their impeccable comic timing and that doesn't really date.
It loses its way towards the end but even in the final season there are some real classics.
I'd second the suggestion to try Hot In Cleveland, it's not as well written but again the cast are very strong, Betty White essentially plays Sophia in this. All six season are free on Amazon Prime and it's perfect easygoing & happy viewing for this stressful time.

What the hell is this stalker thriller on before it?! It's a bit too 9pm for my liking. Doesn't really go with my soup.

Another day, another gun pointed at a woman's face before we head to our jovial Miami-based lunch break. Who is running Channel 5? OJ Simpson?!
