One of the Queen's footmen once came on one of my dad's ice climbing courses (my dad was an alpine guide). He didn't talk much about her, but said she was a very kind and interested employer, and knew every single member of staff's name, and that she would always ask to see her staff's holiday photos. Apparently before he went on this course, she'd asked him what he was doing for his holiday, and when he told her, said 'oh Barry! That's very brave of you! Please don't do yourself a mischief."

I think alece10 set up this thread just to tell us all the famous people they've met 😉 I didn't actually. And when you read the thread you will see I haven't met one of the 1st 2 choices and the same for today's choices. In fact I haven't met either of the choices I had in mind for Sunday. But as it might come over that I am trying to show off I think its wise that I discontinue with the thread. Just thought it was a bit of fun. OK let's take a breather here. I thought the use of the winky face emoji might have shown that I was just making a pretty harmless joke just seeing as you mentioned you've met The Queen and Imelda Staunton. Nothing more than that. Please continue with the thread.

Ok, so I haven’t met the Queen but I have met Prince Philip. So there. The Queen was there but I wasn’t in her line 😂
I’ve met David Tennant. That more or less tops it, no?

But did he say something wildly inappropriate to you lynette that's the question? Prince Philip that is, not David Tennant.

I met Imelda after Sweeney Todd. Seen her several times in shows too. An amazing performer. As to the Queen: Seen her a few times and been in her Palace with a member of her staff, invited of course. Was at the Diamond Jubilee concert at the Palace too. Another amazing lady.

I’ve met David Tennant. That more or less tops it, no? David Tennant absolutely tops the Queen! Details, please! :) (He is one of the few 'celebrities' that fall into my 'totally would love to have a cup of coffee and a chat with this guy' category: I think he's a great actor, and he always seems like such a lovely guy overall.) If alece10 allows for random details on meeting other celebrities, that is. Wouldn't want to mess up the thread! :)

Sir Bob Geldof and his children were regular customers in a previous part of my life. He was a high profile celebrity at the time.
It was in the open air and the whispers and looks from people nearby were priceless. He was polite when people spoke to him but didn't engage in conversation.

So there I was in the queue at Sunningdale post office not paying much attention when this large bearded guy in front booms 'Can I have a book of ten first class stamps please?' I then realised from the unmistakable voice it was Brian Blessed!*
*He lives relatively locally to me in Bagshot

Never met the Queen, but remember standing out to watch her and Queen Elizabeth when she went on tour back in 2002. A few years ago I did the whole Trouping The Colour thing and it was fun watching them all come out onto the balcony (Prince George made a guest appearance, might to then delight of people around me).
Never met Ant and Dec but I once had a gig working the BGT auditions. In Newcastle I had to stand behind a camera, on a chair, and teach 500 auditioning acts a dance to ‘Let’s Get Ready To Rumble’. Then we repeated the process out on the sodding street.

Love this thread. Desperate to participate. Closest I have so far is Ant & Dec started as PJ & Duncan in Byker Grove. And I live three roads from a road called Grovebury. I'd like the OP to include someone in the next list that they have a lovely story to us all

I was knocked backwards down the Oxford St Station stairs outside Niketown by Madonna's bodyguard when she was out jogging at 6.30 in the morning.
She didn't stop to see if I was ok...

Morning.
Today's 2 names are:
Kerry Ellis Keith Lemon
If you wonder where the names come from it's because I am sleeping very badly at the moment and obscure thoughts seem to come to me in the middle of night including names. It's all very strange and I long for a good nights sleep.

I 'met' Keith Lemon a few weeks ago when he arrived fashinably late at Back to the Future in Manchester just as the curtain was about to go up. We were on the end of his row so he had to brush past me to get to his seat in the middle of the row

It's all very strange and I long for a good nights sleep. I've met Kerry Ellis a couple of times. Her own gig and the Wicked stage door don't really count I suppose, but I did also meet her at the closing night of We Will Rock You - she was chatting away to fans in the foyer during the interval so I spoke briefly to her as I passed by.

I have met Kerry a couple of times at shows. I remember once after a Christmas musicals show at Symphony Hall Birmingham we spotted her taxi leaving and she stopped and chatted and signed the programme. She is so down to earth and very friendly as well as amazingly talented.

I'd been up all night with hooping cough and thought stuff it I can't sleep so I'll just go into work early. I was so out of it from lack of sleep I wasn't really paying attention as I stepped out. I saw her first as she was jogging in front of him and then BAM he ran straight into me and down I went!

I might have skipped something but if we're talking about Gandolf apart from seeing him cycle around Chelsea a lot (back in the day) I do have some memories of ex-wife Paula Yates. An odd thing, but hers were the very first time I saw breast implants, and they were fab (in a bikini).
She was with Michael Hutchence and two of her kids at the time, around 1993-94 period. Strange and sad to think 3 of those people are dead now.
Spent random times with a lot of celebs, inc. Ant and Dec, but not always interesting. They were about as normal as normal could ever be.

Morning Todays famous people are Ant and/or Dec and Imelda Staunton. Bit late on this one, but my wife and I sat opposite Jim Carter and Imelda Staunton on the Met Line out of London once. They got off at Finchley Road.

One I can comment on.
Have bumped into Simon Russell Beale numerous times as he often frequents the Theatre and and had to do a double take at Southwark Little Theatre for a weekday matinee of a play I have long forgotten.
Only spoken the once as always when I happenstance upon an actor I usually just give a nod of recognition and walk on, I was in Stratford Upon Avon for a weekday matinee and did my nod in the space by the Bear and he acknowledged and we had a small conversation, it was just before the Lehman Brothers was about to start rehearsals and I asked him how it was going and he just said ask me again when we have a text.

My parents were at a party with Brian Blessed once, back when he was into mountaineering, and came along to his guide's birthday party. I'd totally forgotten about it. My mum had no idea who he was, and came home saying 'who on earth was that awful loud man who shouted all night and was an arrogant arse?'. She was not impressed.

Today's couple of names are Princess Diana Judi Dench Finally!! Not Diana (thank god) but Judi!!! I met her at the stage door of Amy’s View. I used to live in Germany with the forces and part of our theatre studies class came to UK to see some shows. When we met her I informed her we had come all the way from Germany to see her she replied, in that friendly flirty way that she has ‘oh, u ARE a liar’!!! Weirdly as we walked back to Waterloo I found by the side of the road the understudy to Judi’s working script fro Amy’s View with all the lines highlighted and everything!! What a wonderfully queer day it was! (I know this was a stage door encounter which may not really count but my exposure to famous people is quite often limited to back alleys)

I think currently she dresses as an easter bunny. Well she was on her recent video message.

Today's couple of names are Princess Diana Judi Dench I've come across both.
Dench used to live on Northside, Wandsworth Common with husband Michael Williams, at least they did in the late 80s and into the 90s. Many will know Williams died in 2001. Around then, Judi was also semi-regular at the Quaker Meeting House in Wandsworth (for reference, about the same time the E rave scene hadn't emerged from the 4 or 5 spots it had started in). I was an undergrad and worked at their local minicab office. They often phoned to get a cab for a guest and I went to their house a few dozen times - absolutely no idea who I was driving. Different priorities at the time .. they were always lovely though. In my mind I think Williams opened the door most often and was always warm. Judi would be in hostess mode.
Diana I used to see in Chelsea, about dozen times or so. She used a gym along from Fulham Harbour and, having somehow given the paps the slip, would drive over to Old Church Street to visit Manolo Blahnik's shop. Thing that might surprise peple about Diana is she was world class at parallel parking - I can see her now pulling up quite abruptly in the BMW with the sun roof down, wearing shades, and then zoom, backwards at speed into a parking space. Really impressive. Never any security, at least that you could see.
I also have a second type of memory of her; by accident of timing, walking a few steps behind her - just her and me on Paultons Street (heading to the square), and I'm trying to decide if she is bow-legged .. she's wearing quite high heels and I just can't work out if it's the heels or her ... it was a very pleasant late morning, like in late Spring. Absolutely dolled-up. Not sure she was off shopping, more likely visiting.
I often wondered how she gave the paps the slip at the gym. In a funny way you almost couldn't/can't help but wonder if she was always alone.
