Available to preorder in DVD on Amazon. Good news. Did think at one point they might not even bother. But apparently that never happens! Guess double CD is out of the question though.... |

(Haven't seen the film yet after all the terrible reviews) am I correct in thinking the soundtrack is different than the film performances? So that would mean they recorded it separate from the film... If so, I would hope they would release the full soundtrack. I'd love to hear the whole score with new orchestrations, full orchestra, etc. and the single CD really skipped some important tracks. What a mess this whole thing turned out to be... |

I believe the versions in the film have live vocals recorded on set, so yes they are probably different. |

To be honest, the vocals on the album don't sound studio-recorded to me, so I assumed they were the same on-set-recorded vocals as in the film.

So James and Rebel have been at it again at the Oscars ceremony last night:  Maybe I’m old fashioned (maybe!?) but I think it’s rather off to publicly mock a project you’ve been heavily involved in. |

^Agree with Deal J,what is the point of their clever-clever gag?They are already flogging a dead horse so to speak.This ‘joke’ is already dated,unnecessary and worst of all,just boring.Dissing something you were actively part of is a rather strange blame-deflecting tactic.

Totally agree with the above posters and if nothing else, it shows a lack of professionalism by being so negative about the film they were happy to take a large sum of money to be involved with. If they want to distance themselves from it then give away their salaries to a good cause and keep quiet!

Perhaps the actors feel let down because they were given so many assurances that the film would come to life in post-production. And if their performances seem wildly uneven, once again they have been let down by the director's inability to create a coherent movie.

VES Responds "Last night, in presenting the Academy Award for Outstanding Visual Effects, the producers chose to make visual effects the punchline, and suggested that bad VFX were to blame for the poor performance of the movie CATS. Well, that sounds like they're either claiming Cats had the best VFX in the world, which is ridiculous, or just making a poor excuse for half-arsing the VFX.

It's funny how it's only the two weak links in the cast, James Corden and Rebel Wilson, that are publicly slagging the film. I don't think the VFX were to blame for their cringe-worthy performances.

Maybe if his studio's VFX were better, it wouldnt have closed?
But i don't feel that the VFX people should be blamed for this. Surely they were only carrying out the designs agreed by Tom Hooper. The studios were all fine with it until the first trailer. That's when the fur hit the fan.

I am always amazed when seemingly sane people like producers, designers, actors and in this case the composer of the show go into this project, must have been shown some sort of concept and VFX tests and then gush about how great and revolutionary it is. Still hearing James Corden and the rest praising it to the skies in the behind-the-scenes video released before the trailer. Money is very powerful...
