Presumably a commercial decision to rake in some cash?

Presumably a commercial decision to rake in some cash? Possibly. But all their made at curve shows are commercial ventures designed for that. So why not a new title? You have to think how commercially successful it would be given that it's already been on there for 8 weeks? Leicester isn't that big. I'm sure there is some reasoning behind it, i'm just a tad disappointed because i was looking forward to something new next summer.

The issue is that there are not many musical titles that guarantee commercial success especially without a name. Plus of course, there may be rights issues to obtaining them for a regional production.

That's true, but on the other hand, i think that given how commercial their programming over the last few years, and the success they have been getting, increased profits ect ect, you wonder why they don't feel able to take some risks with some lesser known stuff or more challenging stuff? And when i say that, i literally just mean something not quite as instant as Grease or Hairspray, i don't mean totally obscure stuff.

I get it as a commercial decision, easy money and all that, but it's backfired in my case - I would've gone to see a new title (or a new old title!) but I'm not paying to see Grease again.

They should do a gay version. And bring over the foxiest eyebrows on TV to star as Sandy (or Andy).

Never caught this last time but I’ve heard mixed things, is it enough for a fun night out or is it downright awful??

Never caught this last time but I’ve heard mixed things, is it enough for a fun night out or is it downright awful?? As in the musical itself or this production? Also this isn't the one that was recently touring if that is maybe what you are thinking, This particular production is good. Nothing wrong with it. It's not the standard version, it has some songs and dialogue not in the normal one, which makes it quite interesting.

Just had my Birmingham Hippodrome season brochure through, all it says for this is Summer 2019 at the moment but I’m relieved to have a new production coming around! However it does say ‘star casting joins a young and vibrant cast’ which makes me just a tad fearful
