Bricusse has been trying to get this one off the ground for ages, a version was performed in San Diego a decade or so ago, and it had been around for a while, even then. Davis Jr had a lot of success with his and his writing partner Anthony Newley’s songs, at one point taking the lead role in Stop the World, I Want to Get Off, which was filmed in the late seventies.

Tickets on sale. Front row is £10 for the previews, £15 for the rest of the run if you can get in quick. No additional booking fees either (unless you want the tickets posted to you), which is always appreciated.

Got to be worth a punt for a tenner - I've booked front row for the final preview on Tuesday evening.
With luck there'll be a matinee musical at Southwark Playhouse I can combine this with.

Yup - know nothing of what to expect (does anyone?!) But £10 front row is good enough for me!

Thanks for the heads up. Just got some front row seats for £15 for a Friday night. I do love a bargain and it looks an interesting musical. Last time I went to the Lyric must have been in 1978. God I feel old

£15 front row for the last night sorted. I’ve never been to the Lyric Hammersmith so it will be a great opportunity to tick this theatre off the yet to visit list. Should be a great night for a bargain price.

I couldn't resist this one either for a tenner.
Incidentally Bricusse's autobiography, 'Pure Imagination' is a very entertaining read*. It's amazing how much he has achieved in life.
* that's if you don't mind the noise of a name being dropped on every page.

^LB is one of the great unsung heroes of MT...have always loved The Roar Of The Greasepaint,Stop The World,Dr Dolittle and especially Scrooge...on the Lyric site,LB states that he and his wife had a 30 year friendship with Sammy Davis Jr and saw him perform live 300 times so this show sounds like a real labour of love...

So LB has written the book, music and lyrics, a fact somewhat underplayed in a recent interview by star Clarke Peters. Of course that means we lose Big Spender and Mr Bojangles amongst other titles. Stll there are enough goodies to be going on with!

Allow me to reminisce..
Years ago we employed a charismatic Danish guy who was full of tall stories. Hed travelled everywhere, met everyone and it took us a long while to realise he was down on his luck due to alcohol.
The guys used to tease him about some of his stories but hed add the sort of detail that would leave you doubting. One day he told several of us about his time in Las Vegas and his friendship with Dean, Peter, Joey and Sammy. He insisted that if wed seen them all live, like he had, wed agree Sammy was the talent. At this he was openly ridiculed and I had to change the subject. Next day he turns up with several old pics of him next to Sammy, them hugging and Dean clearly in the background!
Dont like tribute acts or jukebox musicals. Struggling with the idea of someone playing Davis Jr.

I went to a charity concert at the RAH years ago in aid of Macmillan nurses. It was called Liza and Friends and was a tribute to Sammy Davis Jr. Amazing night with performances from friends who had worked with him and, of course, Liza headlining. Princess Diana was there and I remember that the programmes were £100 each.

LB is a pain in the **** and sadly his approach to musical theatre was dated in the 1990s (if not earlier). Sammy Davis Jnr, however, was a genius. Hopefully Clarke Peters can work some magic.

This is another one I had tickets for and haven't heard anything about since 2020. I really do hope it is rescheduled but I'd also quite like a refund now and will re-book when we get more info. I don't suppose anyone else has heard anything?

I don't suppose anyone else has heard anything? I got a refund as there was no indication if and when it would happen. They were quite quick and efficient.

I don't suppose anyone else has heard anything? I thought they said at the time this wasn't being rescheduled and offered refunds. I know I got refunded. A shame really, as I would have liked to have seen this.

I hadn't had anything since the email saying it was being postponed to 2021. I have just had a reply from them saying they credited it to my account, which isn't ideal and I've asked again if it can be refunded. Perhaps I missed an email but i can't see anything else and I kept a pretty good record of the cancellations as so much was going on.
