Not sure if there’s already a thread on this. Jamie is touring in 2020, with dates in Southampton and Newcastle already announced.
I’m wondering if the London show will close for this?

I think they already have said that they plan to continue running in London alongside the tour but then I think Kinky Boots said something similar and closed a few months into the tour. I guess it just depends on sales.

So far they're only doing week long sit downs which makes me think they're trying to play as many venues as possible.

How do we think it will sell?

I would imagine they will hit the areas where the filmed broadcasts sold the most successfully. It’s a very shrewd move on their part to test the waters at least, especially if each sit down is only one week. Personally I can see it doing well, depending on venue sizes of course.

In Southampton's case, the Mayflower is a bit of a barn, so I would worry about how they'd sell there, but I think for one week, they should be okay.
As for Newcastle, the Theatre Royal is pretty intimate so I'd imagine they'll have no problems selling there.

We saw ...Jamie at the cinema at Bluewater last October. We had a couple of free tickets from when there was an issue with a free Sun newspaper screening which they started half an hour early and gave everyone who missed the start a free ticket.
It was almost full which surprised me considering the proximity to London. I didn't think it would be "the same" as seeing a live performance in the flesh which of course it isn't but nevertheless I really enjoyed seeing the show on a big cinema screen and would happily pay the £15 ticket price another time.
It's difficult at first not to applaud, a few people did so briefly after the opening number !
I think it will do well on tour everywhere.

I’m sure it will stay in Sheffield longer than a week. Maybe it would be appropriate to end the tour there with a longer sit down at the Lyceum. I wonder if JM is interested in doing the tour?

When the transfer to London's glittering West End was first announced, Dan Bates from Sheffield Theatres was on the wireless. He said, right back then, that it would tour, and when it did, the tour would start in Sheffield. Of course things change (just to cover myself).
Burly is right though, as always. 🙂 Two, or even two and a half weeks, at the Lyceum, would do very good business indeed.
I suspect we shall find out in the next few weeks, when the new season is announced.

I do think this will go the same way as recent tours which have the intention of staying in the West End but then close. We've seen this recently with Kinky Boots, Beautiful and soon to be Motown.

I think Luke Bayer may get principal Jamie for this tour, having proven himself as the alternate to John.

It doesn't happen very often, but it seems I was right, for once. As was my very good friend BurlyBeaR, who is always right. 🙂 Sheffield Theatres announced this morning that the UK tour of Everybody's Talking About Jamie will open at the Lyceum Theatre on Saturday 8 February 2020, and will run until Saturday 29 February.

I think Luke Bayer may get principal Jamie for this tour, having proven himself as the alternate to John. He did prove to be a good alternate but it didn't end that great as he made a few waves making it very clear he wanted the lead in DEH. Now we all await cast news for both shows

From tomorrow, Sheffield Theatres is launching a season ticket when three or more shows are booked at the same time, so, for example, Life of Pi, Guys and Dolls and Everybody's Talking About Jamie.

Anyone else think Faye Tozer’s run in the West End is essentially an extended audition for the role on tour? I imagine they’ll stunt cast Miss Hedge and Loco like they’ve done in the West End and she seems like she’d fit the mould for a UK tour.

I just have a feeling.

Isn't Hayley shortly to have a baby? I know I'm a childless man, but I can't imagine touring with a six month old!
