I'll be booking for at least 4. Grimes and Nixon are two of my favourites
I love Nixon. It will be interesting to see how it goes down today as I doubt they will have a mainly Chinese cast

I remember the critics loving it but most of us on here not! I'm much more interested in this one www.charlescourtopera.com/iolanthe.html

Most looking forward to Peter Grimes. Also curious to see Hercules and it will be great to see Nixon in China again. It's many years ago that I've been to a Tippett opera but King Priam I definitely find hard work!

It's many years ago that I've been to a Tippett opera but King Priam I definitely find hard work! I saw King Priam when ETO did it a few years ago. Never again! The only other Tippett opera I've seen was The Midsummer Marriage 15 years ago & from what I remember that music was reasonably pleasant but King Priam I just found cacophanous much of the time.

I really like Priam more for the story than the score. I wonder if it will be a new production or a revial of the excellent Tom Cairns production.

ENO, Charles Court and which is the other one? Sasha Reagan's at Greenwich. As an old fart it would give me great pleasure if YOU've forgotten this one? I thought you went to it?

As Hairspray is playing till November cripes knows what the ENO season will be.
YouTube has the complete Met Opera broadcast of Nixon in China. It's fantastic I watched it last night. Also a recording from staatsoper stuttgart is on there that I will check out in the coming months.
On youtube is 45 minutes archival footage of the actual event which I found fascinating. A PBS documentary is also there that I'm adding to my watch list.
If Covid 19 won't give us Nixon then YouTube will.

We're in. Love a new experience... Have seen Opera in a Warehouse, a Pub, a Roman Ruin, a Greek Ruin, Bow St Courthouse, Goldsmiths Hall, Phillips Auction rooms, various Parks, NT properties, the round Chapel, a canal barge.... Last went to a drive in, Orange County California in 1978. Sat in the middle of a bench seat in the front of a Ford Station Wagon between two sisters, "California Girls". (Actually the middle of the seat was bloody uncomfortable, the speaker you put in your window tinny and the movie had Sylvester Stallone as a bare knuckle fighter. We left early. Last saw 'the girls' in 2008).

On our way to this last Friday evening and we get a phone call to say it's been cancelled because of high winds! Hard to see that as anything but an ill wind.
Went home and ate our picnic in the living room watching Pavrotti and Freni on youtube.

This is getting personal.
Won't be at the ENO tomorrow and got this email. They are having to plan for this kind of development. Strange times to live in.
Following the Government's latest announcement, we are writing to confirm the cancellation of Mozart's Requiem. We are hoping that a recording or a rescheduling will be possible, however these live performances will not be happening.
We share your disappointment at this news, and we offer our heartfelt apologies for having to cancel the performances.
If you would like to take a credit note to the value of your tickets to use in 2021, please do let us know by emailing credit@eno.org.
Alternatively, we can fully refund your booking, to arrange a refund please contact us on Live Chat or email us at box.office@eno.org.
Once again please accept our apologies for having to cancel performances, and we look forward to being able to entertain you as soon as possible.
We’re not asking for donations to support these cancelled performances as we created contingency plans in case this happened. However, If you would like to support us, we’d love for you to enter the ENO Raffle, for just £2 per ticket. Our ENO Raffle is a fun and exciting way for you to win high-end experiences and luxury items. With every ticket you buy, you are helping us to continue our learning and outreach programmes.
