Why is Ant suddenly referring to himself in the third person when he has never, ever done this previously? I have, you just haven't noticed

I'm contemplating travelling to see this for my birthday, so that seating plan is very useful, as is the rest of the advice in the thread - thanks. It looks like a lovely relatively small theatre, I'm thinking rear stalls might be better than any of the circles/balcony which look like they might feel far away given there doesn't appear to be an overhang? The theatre website has a good clear seating plan and does highlight where the pillars are on the royal and dress circles are. The grand circle at the top is pillar free. The theatre is a bit horseshoe design in layout and the circles go up around the back edge of the stalls and do not overhang the stall seats at all Leg room best in the stalls, still snug but better than a lot of the west end theatres on Shaftesbury avenue. Link below to their interactive and seating plan download www.theatreroyal.org.uk/your-visit/box-office/seating-plan/

Excellent, thank you. What a pretty auditorium it is! It’s truly one of the loveliest we have. And Bath is obviously gorgeous too

Regardless of what got him the elbow from putting this on at the Old Vic, Gilliam has done nothing of any note in films since the 90s, stuff like Tideland and The Man Who Killed Don Quixote were dreadful which is why he is not making any films these days.

…whereas we are all still having massive successes with our movies, tv programmes and shows! 🙄
We get it. The guy is a sexist misogynist dinosaur. It still doesn’t mean that I’m gonna miss out on something with the potential to be amazing. He hasn’t finished his career yet. Winters Tale & The Tempest were Shakespeares last solo works if memory serves.

Ive just booked this for next week. Ive got one of the perch seats in the stalls. This is either going to be an absolute bargain or agony for a couple of hours. And that's not counting what's happening on stage!

Sat on the circle perch seats for Six there and they were great value.

Sat on the circle perch seats for Six there and they were great value. That's good to know. I'm hoping that there's a bit of room to stretch out - looking at the photos I'm hopeful. This used to be my local theatre but I can't say Ive noticed them before. The theatre Royal isn't very forgiving for us taller folk other than on the stalls; this was the only seat left there.

I wouldn’t get too excited! They’re the fold down seats that the ushers used to sit on. The leg room was ok, but its quite a side view. This didn’t matter for ‘Six’, but might matter for something a bit more designed.
What they weren’t was the horrific high stools that were even more side on, with people shuffling noisily & uncomfortably on them all night.

For £12.50 I'm willing to take the chance. I think the stalls ones will be less side on.I will report back! There a week on Tuesday.

Oh those high bench rows are not fun, if you’re thinking about booking on the ones either side of the dress circle, sit elsewhere..! Or at least on the first one or two seats furthest from the stage. Unfortunately at an angle, as well as having a wall obscuring some of the view, so leaning is required :/ super uncomfortable .. was fine for Six, but definitely not a show longer than that

Well that has made me pretty damn excited for this. Can’t wait to see Nicola Hughes as the Witch.

A Robin Williams and Emma Thompson Baker and bakers wife, that could have been special.
This must be eyeing a transfer after Bath

This must be eyeing a transfer after Bath I'm pretty sure he's got that muddled - there was a version that Paramount were looking at that was Robin Williams as the Baker, Goldie Hawn as the Bakers Wife and Cher as the Witch

With every new reveal, the excitement comes up at notch. Julian Bleach's Mysterious Man has an air of his character in Grinning Man here and if the similarities propagate it will be a very interesting production. Im already wondering if just the one performance is enough and whether I should book a few repeats in now whilst in the area.

He literally says he thinks he was only brought in to direct the film version because he could bring along Williams and Thompson.
They already have a west end theatre booked- expect an announcement imminently. I THINK it’s the Phoenix, which would be a nice link to the original London production which played there.

God, I hope so! Had booked this for the OV but the Bath dates don't work for me.

(good argh!) Phoenix would be a nice fit looking at the set in the build time-lapses too. Probably not a coincidence. Just clocked WOOD35 gets you best seats at £35 for the first week of the show 17th - 23rd.

Certainly sounded good from that clip. It really would be lovely to have it at the Pheonix. I can still remember the great design for the marquee outside.

Looks and feels like every other production of ITW in the history of ITW productions - with maybe a few surreal touches that may not add much but were probably hilarious in the rehearsal room. I could of course be proved wrong though

From that clip it doesn't look particularly revolutionary, but think Nicola will be a terrific Witch and I can't wait to see Alex

Personally I don't want anything revolutionary. Having missed the open air and donmar version Into the woods always seems to be scaled back or in a minimalistic version. I'd like to finally see a full production

“First major revival in decades”? Hardly. It gets done all the time. Unless he doesn’t count anything that’s not in London, having forgotten that he isn’t in London either. Yet. They both come across as very smug.

So the Narrator/Mysterious Man ISN'T the Bakers father?
The Donnie Darko rabbit mask is an interesting choice and good for Milky White, being front and center for 'Ever After'
I'm glad that he referenced how amazing the original Richard Jones production was, but based on that video, i'll wait for it to die a death in the West End and get a cheap ticket then.
