It is lining up a west end transfer, so expect it to arrive in London (unless it’s an absolute disaster)

Someone has just put on FB that the musical is a parable to the Aids crisis. I've never heard this before. Any views?

Someone has just put on FB that the musical is a parable to the Aids crisis. I've never heard this before. Any views? It’s not. Sondheim was been clear about this - people think it was and it’s fine to have whatever interpretation you want given the time but it was ultimately not the intentions of the creators.

Someone has just put on FB that the musical is a parable to the Aids crisis. I've never heard this before. Any views? I’ve definitely read this before, I believe Sondheim said it wasn’t intentional but he could see the parallels. People also saw many parallels between the show and 9/11 when the 2002 revival came, when all the main characters lost loved ones and had to find ways to carry on. I’d assume many people will think of the past 2 years when watching this production.

Certainly at least some of those who were going to be doing it at the Old Vic, if not all.

No, but they're the one's that make sense given who's been highlighted in the listing?
I know Alex was due to play BW at the Old Vic, so I guessed the other two - Nicola fits as the Witch...

Ooh I love Julian Bleach. Baker? or Wolf? I wonder… The Wolf also doubles as the Prince so I doubt it. He's more of a Narrator/Old Man Ah yes, you’re right. Given the framing of this production: …I suppose he could be the grandfather which somehow weaves in the Narrator and Old Man roles. Much as I’d like to see him be Baker, I think that would be a bit too “normal” a role for him!

Yes you’re right, he’d hardly fit the profile for Baker these days! …so I’m going to assume he must be playing Red Riding Hood

Baz said it would transfer to the WE when the Bath news was released. I wonder if it will though. with the exception of the recent Company Sondheim does not do well in the West End. plus the current climate and I suspect the producers lost a stack on the RFH light in the piazza

I suspect the producers lost a stack on the RFH light in the piazza Didn't Light in the Piazza sell really well? Or was it the refunds they gave when Dove wasn't performing?

A similar show Do I Hear A Waltz? is.

I do remember some seat filling for Light in the Piazza but I definitely think they chose the wrong venue for that. The RFH felt giant for that show. It’d be nice to see Into the Woods in a smaller west end house
