The Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall has a whole zoo! Well, camels and sheep and a donkey at least.

A vulture when Fiona Shaw played Our Lady in Colm Toibin's The Testament of Mary at the Barbican in 2014. You could even go up on stage before the play started and so get up close to it.

The goose in The Ferryman. Dogs in Downstate and Shakespeare in Love (I "met" the latter at stage door, super proud).
And Wee Thomas, of course.

There was a rabbit in the Country Wife with Toby Stephens a few years ago.
What was the Sean Foley/ Hamish McColl one with all the ducks?

We had an "animals on stage" thread years ago, maybe you can retrieve it. I've seen a big eagle in The Winters Tale, RSC at the Roundhouse, it flew across the arena. Also RSC, a hawk in Taming of the Shrew in a production that also included several chickens. Years ago the NT had a duck in The Wild Duck - one performance had to be abandoned when it wouldn't stop quacking - there was another in the Simon Stephens version of the play. Snakes in Antony and Cleopatra are commonplace. A dog is always in Two Gentlemen of Verona, sometimes in Midsummer Nights Dream.

The Adorable Tanya... a baby elephant who with her trainers and presenters Mr and Mrs Jenda Smaha, did summer seasons on stage including the ABC Theatre in Blackpool in 1967 (where I saw it) and a few pantos as well, in the 60s, including Cinderella with Cliff Richard at the Palladium, also panto at the Manchester Palace. The act was featured in the Royal Variety Show in 1967, and performed in Las Vegas for over a decade. This was the 60s, we didn’t know much better . Of course during the lifetime of this act there was more than one Tanya .... baby elephants don’t stay adorable for too long. The trainer/owner of the act was German , he presented the act with his wife in Indian costume, and for what it’s worth, according to reports , the animals in his care were very well cared for. Whether they should have been used as performers and transported around the world is the big question.
On the subject of animals on stage , Rupperts Bears (yes real bears, the name of the act is a coincidence and not linked to Rupert the bear , Paul and Danuska Ruppert from Germany, trained and presented the act) featured in Tommy Steele’s Dick Whittington panto at the Palladium .
Not plays, I know, but still animals on stage. How times have changed.

Dogs, cat and snakes. At the RSC , a bit ago, the dog had its own glamorous dressing room/caravan outside the theatre. And it was taken for walks by the minder and you could say hello. sweet.

What was the Sean Foley/ Hamish McColl one with all the ducks? Ducktastic? Yep. I was just watching an episode of my favourite British reality series, Airline, and David Pugh made an appearance. I'd never heard of it before, apparently it was a flop with audiences. But managing 37 ducks would have been quite the task, I imagine. This was also way back when the Noel Coward was the Albery.

I forgot one - Nell Gwynn there was a dog in the show for a brief moment. I remember it getting loads of attention at stage door of the Apollo.

A monkey in Inherit the Wind at the Old Vic a decade ago I'd forgotten about that! Sweet, wasn't it. Forgettable, apparently, but sweet. And wasn't there also a grotesque rat in it? I think he played the lead role. And i'm sure I've seen a 'little lamb' in Gypsy ere now.

Opera and ballet seem to be fond of large beasts, apart from the already mentioned I've also seen 2 horses in Katya Kabanova and a horse and donkey in a Russian Don Q version.

They weren't forgotten, I mentioned him on the first page and the dogs were mentioned too. I have also remembered that there was a large fish tank in Glengarry Glen Ross with lots of fish in it.

As well as on stage animals, we’ve all experienced at one time or another a few animals within the auditorium, or as I like to call them, the anti-social theatre patrons as noted in the bad behaviour thread.
