According to Wikipedia, there are 38 theatres defined as being "West end" theatres. I thought it would be interesting to see how many I had been to and I was quite surprised to see I'm still yet to visit 6 despite 37 years of theatre going. I thought some of you might appreciate checking your own lists off too.
Here's the full list.
Adelphi Aldwych Ambassadors Apollo Apollo Victoria Arts Cambridge Criterion Dominion Duchess Duke Of York's Fortune Garrick Gielgud Gillian Lynne Harold Pinter Her Majesty's London Palladium Lyceum Lyric Noël Coward Novello Palace Phoenix Piccadilly Playhouse Prince Edward Prince Of Wales Savoy Shaftesbury Sondheim (Queens) St Martins Theatre Royal, Drury Lane Theatre Royal Haymarket Trafalgar Studios Vaudeville Victoria Palace Wyndham's

My list.
Visited:
Adelphi Aldwych Apollo Apollo Victoria Arts Cambridge Dominion Duchess Duke Of York's Fortune Garrick Gielgud Gillian Lynne Harold Pinter London Palladium Noël Coward Novello Palace Phoenix Piccadilly Playhouse Prince Edward Prince Of Wales Savoy Shaftesbury St Martins Theatre Royal, Drury Lane Theatre Royal Haymarket Trafalgar Studios Vaudeville Victoria Palace Wyndham's
Not visited:
Ambassadors Criterion (I'm actually sure I've been in this theatre but can't for the life of me think what... it might have been a TV show or one off event) Her Majesty's (I know, I know...) Lyceum Lyric (I think this theatre has had the worst programming of any West End theatre in my lifetime...) Sondheim (Queens)

All except the Lyric and St. Martins Current plan is to see something at the Lyric (once it gets something decent in there) and then finish off with The Mousetrap which I still haven’t seen.

I always think it's a pity when a long runner is occupying a particularly attractive theatre. A case in point is The Novello. Since it was restored by CM it's one of the loveliest in the WE. Unfortunately with Mama Mia on there I won't be able to appreciate it again in a long time.

Unfortunately with Mama Mia on there I won't be able to appreciate it again in a long time. I ended up seeing it at the behest of a friend a few years ago and it really is a beautiful theatre. (And I might have enjoyed the show too. Shhh.)

So that's 23 out of 38, which is not bad to say I've only really been on the London theatre scene since 2014! I will be ticking off Shaftesbury on tuesday when I see & Juliet. So almost 24!
First Visited - Apollo Victoria for Starlight Express Most Visited - Tied with Noel Coward and Phoenix (That's if we class The Inheritance as 2 separate sitting!) Though Noel Coward will take the lead with 5 when I see Dear Evan Hansen in April)
This was fun! Good idea Craig!

I honestly have no idea which ones I've been to. I know what shows I've seen, but couldn't tell you where they were or what the theatre was like. The only exceptions would be the Palace because I remember seeing Les Mis there, and the Garrick because it stood out that you went downstairs to get to the stalls.

Some of them certainly blend into one! I can't for the life of me remember what the Fortune is like, for instance.

I had to google for the name of the one I’d seen La Cage Aux Folles at, with Graham Norton, after years of trying to forget the experience.

Right, I have nothing better to do tonight, so I googled them all, and here's my tally - some recent, some... not so. The nos are ones where I can't find anything I recognise. I've seen a lot of things over the last 35 years though, and I may have forgotten stuff. So, as far as I can tell, I've been to 17. Not bad for someone who lives in the sticks and doesn't go to London more than a couple of times a year over the last few years, and far less often in the 80s and 90s.
Adelphi - yes, Derren Brown Aldwych - no Ambassadors - yes, Les Liaisons Dangereuses Apollo - yes, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof Apollo Victoria - no Arts - yes, Six Cambridge - yes, Derren Brown Criterion - no Dominion - no Duchess - no Duke Of York's - yes, The Glass Menagerie, Rosmersholm Fortune - no Garrick - yes, Branagh plays Gielgud - yes, Company Gillian Lynne - no Harold Pinter - no Her Majesty's - London Palladium - no Lyceum - no Lyric - yes, Burn This & Look Back in Anger Noël Coward - no Novello - no Palace - yes, Les Mis & Spamalot Phoenix - yes, Renaissance/Branagh season Piccadilly - Yes, Tango at the End of Winter Playhouse - no Prince Edward - yes, Martin Guerre Prince Of Wales - no Savoy - no Shaftesbury - no Sondheim (Queens) - yes, Les Mis St Martins - no Theatre Royal, Drury Lane -yes, Miss Saigon Theatre Royal Haymarket - yes, Streetcar Named Desire, Much Ado About Nothing Trafalgar Studios - no Vaudeville - no Victoria Palace - no Wyndham's - yes, Doktor Glas
