I usually watch the Tonys every year live (I find a link somewhere online) as I enjoy watching for surprises and seeing peoples speeches etc. But this year, I really don't feel like watching it. I can watch the performances and Cynthia's speech on YouTube but I am just, well, kinda over Hamilton before I have even seen it. It is really overhyped at the moment and the idea of it winning everything makes for very boring. That being said, I really don't expect it to win Actress, Choreography or Set. I don't think it will win Supporting Actor either as I think the three will split and Christopher Fitzgerald will win. But I can watch all of them on YouTube too. This is what I mean! I think Hamilton is fairly overhyped compared to other shows I've seen. I just don't get it! I've never liked rap music but a hip-hop musical doesn't appeal to me! I think I'm just old school but this is the only show with music that really puts me off seeing it! I hope The Color Purple wins some awards and that might make a West End transfer a bit more realistic maybe?!

Wait until you're in the room where it happens! I think it's pretty unlikely to win EVERY award. I agree that it won't win actress or set, not sure about choreography. I think it's also unlikely to tie in that category, as Jonathan Groff has already left and Christopher hasn't really got a role that says "Give me an award!". I wouldn't be all that surprised if Christopher Fitzgerald won though, the voters may want to acknowledge Waitress. Is there anyone on here seen Brandon Victor Dixon in Shuffle Along? He's the only actor in this category I haven't seen.

It's BST in the UK, i.e. UTC+1. New York has EDT, i.e. UTC-4, so it's a 5h time difference.
The Tonys start a 8pm Eastern Time, which is 1am UK time, so Baemax is completely right.
BST: British Summer Time EDT: Eastern Daylight Time UTC: Coordinated Universal Time

Man, this is going to be an awkward ceremony, but I have faith in Corden to set the right tone at the beginning. Still... Ugh.

And I'm still gutted I won't be seeing it live despite being in the US. Maybe I should watch the live stream on my laptop or iPad instead?

I hope The Color Purple wins its awards. I'd love to see it get: best actress, best supporting actress and best revival

No, and I don't care to. I don't specifically seek her out. Much to my dismay, she happens to be cast in shows I have remote interest in seeing.

I just don't get Hamilton! I don't get the need of posting it in all the threads. Btw, do you know what Sheridan Smith thinks of Hamilton? Could you maybe ask her if she returns to Savoy (which I highly doubt, oops)

She's keen to return and the producers have said she will and when she'll be back so I highly doubt that she won't be back.

Ok George. You've posted "I don't get Hamilton" here, then at Hamilton's thread, then probably somewhere else... Is there any special point for me to read it everywhere? Please din't turn this and Hamilton thread into Funny Girl one

Please din't turn this and Hamilton thread into Funny Girl one Yeah I'm sorry for that. I originally posted it here but then I thought it was more topical in the Hamilton thread. I don't usually read the Hamilton thread so I won't be in that much often. I stick to other threads like Funny Girl or shows that interest me. Sorry again What do you mean about turning it into a Funny Girl thread? What did I do on there?
