Can’t believe we’re into Beverley’s last week! Would love to be there on Sat but I’m across town at Hyde Park… please can anyone who’s going post their reports on here?

Beverley Knight has teased that she will return to The Drifters Girl, presumably after finishing her run in Sister Act.

Maybe she’s taking the show to Broadway, or on tour, or something else

From Beverley’s Twitter it looks like Tosh is not performing tomorrow for her final shows. Sad as he was my favourite cast member last time but still excited to finally see Bev as Faye tomorrow.

Yesterday I saw The Drifters Girl for the second time. This show has a cast of six who all work incredibly hard: Four guys play lots of different members of the four person band The Drifters. Beverley Knight plays the lady who managed them and there is a girl who Beverley is narrating the story to.
I previously saw Beverley’s understudy, a fantastic actress called Vanessa Ela Young. Beverley plays the role with a much thicker South American accent, which some people don’t like but I rather enjoyed. Beverley has by far the stronger singing voice and raises the roof at the end of her six or so songs, from the lively Nobody but Me but to the eleven o’clock number Harlem Child.
But most of the songs go, rightfully, to The Drifters. This time I saw Matt Henry as the group’s founding member (having previously seen his understudy Curtis Scott). Matt won an Olivier Award for playing Drag Queen Lola in Kinky Boots and he gets chance to show off his feminine side in this role too. Matt has such a wonderful singing voice. Although, I have to say that Curtis was en par with Matt.
Last time I saw the show, Tosh Wanogho-Maud was the standout. Tosh gets to sing one of the main solos, Stand by Me, and he sang it exactly as Ben E. King would have. His performance as Rudy Lewis was so heartwrenching. Tosh’s understudy Ashford Campbell does an excellent job and if you’d not seen Tosh in the role then I’m sure you would come away thinking his performance was one of the best.
Having now seen the full principal cast, I can say that Tosh is my favourite but Tarinn Callendar, who goes from singing deep parts of The Drifters’ songs to high parts, is also one of those performers that you can’t take your eyes off.
This is such a feel good show, packed full of songs that lift the spirits. The talent on the stage is incredible to watch. I even became more invested in the book this time.

Hi all!
I saw Beverley's last Matinee on Saturday,my 4th time seeing the show and just as great as the times before.
I think the lads added a few points to try and make Beverley laugh.
I don't remember Tarinn wearing a Yankees baseball cap before in the scene when Faye arrives in New York and a Santa hat being waved about when they talk about recording "White Christmas" Beverley giggled a few times.
Also Adam J Bernard changed the lyrics in "There Goes my baby" to "WE love her" and "WE need her".
At the end Tarinn wore a rainbow Garland in the the bows and Savannah Skinner Henry who played the Girl was very emotional hugging Beverley lots.
I would like to see Felicia Boswell to see how she plays Faye so will probably go again!

I've managed to get tickets for the show (stalls F3/4) on July 27th. I've read through this entire thread and noted the posts from last year about rowdy audiences. Just wondering if anyone who's seen the show recently has experienced any issues. Please don't shout at me but I'm also hoping that standing up and singing along is saved for the finale/reprise/megamix rather than happening throughout the show. Any comments gratefully received and faithfully applied.

Start of act 2 had a little bit of singing but the sound design was great that you could barely hear it. School trip were on the upper level and couldn't hear them either from the stalls. You should be fine! Enjoy the show, some real talent on that stage!

Yes, I’ve seen it three times (once in dress circle/twice in stalls) and thankfully haven’t seen any of the awful behaviour others have had to witness. Fingers crossed you’ll be fine. Plus based on where your seats are you’re pretty close to the side door where the ushers hover so if anyone’s awful it’ll be easy enough to find one of the team and ask them to deal with the offending audience member/s!

I did think it was very ambitious to run this for so long without Beverley. A really lovely show though. Curious what will be in the Garrick next - certainly not my favourite theatre.

I'm assuming a play is lined up for the Garrick, maybe Animal Farm?

I'm in a small minority in this but I do so object to being told I MUST display my ticket on a mobile phone . I've just been advised of this by NIMAX re a booking for The Drifters Girl later this week with a warning that "Printed tickets will not be accepted".
Now I know from past experience that there is absolutely no problem going to the box office and getting a printed ticket but an occasional theatregoer would not necessarily know that. I've tried to print it at home in several ways without success and the email doesn't even mention box office collection as an alternative.
I know society is heading towards expecting everyone to do almost everything on their phones these days but it shouldn't be mandatory . My strong views come from an incident I witnessed about three years ago when travelling late evening from Norwich to London by coach. An intended passenger could not access his ticket on his phone for some reason. The driver said he could not travel without it and refused to let him board. He pleaded with the driver but to no avail. The doors were closed and as the coach departed the man was on the ground in floods of tears. It was a most distressing incident to witness and made me determined never to rely on a phone for anything again.

I totally agree with paul26. I recall seeing someone whose phone had a cracked screen, which did not display his rail ticket properly, have to fork out over £100 for a new train ticket before he was allowed to travel (this was a few years ago, when displaying tickets on phones was in its infancy, so maybe technology has improved since then). I now always insist on a proper train ticket. I don't want my whole life on my phone - what if said phone was lost or stolen? However, this is digressing.
I too prefer a proper theatre ticket, although I do print out emailed ones if I have to. Being no spring chicken and not a techy person, it took me a while to put on my reading glasses and find tickets on my phone, thus holding up the queue for everyone else, on the two occasions I had to do it. I told them exactly what I thought!

I agree. I do use my phone for everything but stress out about running out of battery (and you know the battery goes down even faster when you’re thinking about the battery because your brain is actually using that battery to worry about the battery 🔋 🪫 ) so now if I’m out for any amount of time I have to take a bloody power bank which as well as then requiring me to take a bag of some sort ALSO has a battery… 🤪
