I'm only booked for two (which Is my record) but people on here seemed booked up for many. I am planning on going Funny girl and will probably book Dreamgirls once I have persuaded someone to go with me.

Yep, I've got 34 shows currently booked from tomorrow through to January next year (I blame Harry Potter). I've also got a backlog of maybe 15/20 shows I've been meaning to book but haven't got round to yet.
I basically only have one real hobby, can you tell?

'Only' booked eight plays between now and the end of this year, but I have also booked thirteen concerts, three football matches, three films and a comedy show for the rest of the year too.
Going to try to lay off booking so many things , some of the shows I've been to this year have been great, but I'm finding some of the travelling to get to them becoming a bit of a slog.

Theatre trips (i.e. flights and hotels) are booked until end of September, and one trip to Broadway in December. Haven't booked that many tickets as I haven't yet decided what shows to see and I'm also dayseating when I'm in town.
I've booked the following:
- Sunset and Toxic Avenger in London next week
- 2x Aladdin in London in June
- 3x Newsies US tour in San Diego in June (they limited the number of shows one could book to three, I was planning on booking at least five. So I'll just pop in to the box office hoping that some tickets are still left for the other two shows I want to see)
- 3x Wicked tour in Bradford in August
- Groundhog Day in August

Only six at the mo (legally blonde, titanic, in the heights, midsummer night's dream at the globe and then dreamgirls and Harry Potter), which is quite low for me. Due a booking session though as there's lots I want to see!

For the rest of this year I think I have... Toxic Avenger, Hand to God, The Suicide, Doctor Faustus, Aladdin, The Spoils, Fun Home, Groundhog Day,Harry Potter and Dreamgirls. There's definitely a few other things I've forgotten. Will be adding more Broadway and an Edinburgh Fringe trip!
This is probably the most I've ever had prebooked at once!

Right now I have a very colourful assortment of tickets booked:
A total of ten tickets distributed across four London trips up to January 2017 (Sunset Boulevard, Doctor Faustus, The Maids, Faith Healer, Harry Potter, Book of Mormon, Aladdin, Ragtime, Side Show and Dreamgirls). I tend to book in advance if I want to secure a good seat usually (like those £35-seats in the front row for Doctor Faustus, although having seen the pictures I'm beginning to regret that choice) or if something is very likely to sell out. Otherwise I tend to dayseat.
I also have three tickets booked for Moscow (Boris Godunov at the Bolshoi and the musicals Juno & Avos and Count Orlov, and yes, it's all in Russian and no, I don't speak a word of Russian)
three tickets for Paris in December (the revival of Notre Dame de Paris, Timeo and Le rouge et le noir), plus tickets for the French spectacle Le Trois Mousquetaires for the tour stop in Brussels (in May 2017!!)
Just booked tickets for the next season at "our" opera in Belgium
And actually two tickets here in Germany, a local production of Little Shop of Horrors and the Wildhorn "King Arthur" which I kinda regret booking. I support the open air theatre with my annual trips there but I'm really not expecting much from this.

Well I'm starting to feel better about myself haha my friend and I have basically decided we're ticketed out for the year, though I do hope I can convince her to go and see Harry Potter... We've got 6 things booked at the moment; Kerry Ellis next week, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in May, Cats in June, Chicago in July then a bit of a gap before we see Murder Ballad in October and Elaine Paige in December  |

I do love travelling, and there's a few places still calling me, but theatre brings joy into every week of my year and for now that fits better with my "live every moment" approach to life |

Hope you enjoy them all! Haha, for me it's actually the opposite. I used to travel so much for musicals, especially because things are so far-flung in Germany with "big" musicals in various cities as well as many regional productions. I'd also catch most of the Dutch versions across the border and so on. These days London is my "happy place" for both musicals and plays and indeed I often dayseat, try to book cheapish seats or see shows on the fringe. If only hotel rooms wouldn't cost an arm and a leg! Otherwise I rarely bother anymore, especially in Germany. When I booked Paris, it was mainly for the Notre Dame de Paris revival, but of course it's also a town that's always worth visiting with so much to see and do and once there, why not see a few more shows? Moscow is even more of a coincidence - I've wanted to go there for years since I had a wonderful time in St. Petersburg, but Moscow used to be unaffordable with hotel prices especially being insane. So when the rouble tanked this year, I knew I had to seize the chance - and of course, once there, I want to catch a few shows, but I'm mostly going for the town and its sights itself. I absolutely loved the recent War and Peace on the BBC, so the Tolstoy Museum is now top of the list! But not bothering with travels all over Germany and the Netherlands anymore has freed up a lot of money, so I can come over to London a bit more frequently, but I try to keep it balanced between "show travel" and actual "sightseeing travel" to see new towns and countries all over the world. I hope I'll never be forced to choose because that would kill me. Otherwise I'm with the monkey - no smoking, no alcohol, no "going out" to clubs and such, no expensive fashion stuff and so on. I rarely go to concerts and cinema trips have shrunk as well, but that's more due to the quality than loss of interest. |

In addition to these, I will be booking for Titanic soon, and An American in Paris.
My tactic seems to be lately that as soon as a show announces tickets, I pounce! Perhaps this isn't the most cost effective way - as I know last minute deals can be had. E.g day seats. There's literally no value in queuing for day seats in my opinion, when I will have to pay for peak train fares in order to get to the theatre early. Especially when the difference between peak and off-peak would be the cost of the extra for a ticket booked online.

With dynamic pricing, I've noticed, particularly with DelMac, that earliest bookers do get the best price. Booked quite a few on the first day they went on sale, and found after a few weeks the prices have gone up. Maybe for you, but for me it's a multi-dimensional optimisation problem. While tickets may be cheaper at one day, air fares and hotels can easily be more expensive so that I'd have to spend more. |
