As my favourite German supermarket was selling bottles of Hallowe'en themed beer for just 50p, it would have been rude not to help with its stock control. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it. Now I've carried it all home, I could pass for one of @theatremonkey's relatives. At least I won't have to bend down anymore to tie my shoelaces. Maybe the time has come to invest in a tartan trolley. If only 'Aunty' Nancy was still around to see what a trend setter she's become.
After last week's floods, one of the local micro breweries, owned and run by volunteers from the local community, has had to dump 4,000 bottles of beer, all ready and waiting to be sold at Christmas markets. They would have kept me going for three, maybe four...months!

Called into Pure in Victoria and they're giving £1 off hot drinks in the run up to Christmas if you have your own cup. Presumably applies in all their stores. Might help with the Christmas cashflow.

Popped into my local Morrisons this afternoon to see that they were selling packs of 4 squid. Having never tried them (though I have eaten octopus which I will say was actually really tasty), I cooked 2 in a stir fry for my tea, and certainly I was really disappointed in them. Not much taste except with the stir fry sauce. Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Well if our david had pulled his finger out and posted earlier, I could have looked when I was in t'market this very afternoon, putting a bit of business Tracey's way. Her onions are only 40p a lb, when they're double that over the road in Sainsbury's...and I got at least three "sweathearts", if not four! |

TallPaul I was amazed that Morrisons were even selling it. You certainly don't get that being sold at the local chippies! I'm going to have a look for recipes to use the other two with that i've got left in the freezer.

The crispy noodles you put on top are to die for! |

Ooo a nice plate of crispy squid: truly divine.
And used to love a Vesta curry! Kind of a low rent (Caprice-style!) Pot Noodle..But did enjoy them!

I watched Rick Stein's long weekend in Bologna last night. He had squid, with their bits attached, stuffed with mashed potato and capers. 🤢
Even though this was at a cafe in a market, it was still served with smears and edible flowers. He could have saved himself the time and trouble and just gone to MCR! 🤣

I wish Greggs did a vegan or at least vegetarian sausage cheese bean melt.
Lidl do a vegetarian cheese and bean slice but the Royal Opera House get really sniffy iff you try to bring one in.

Nothing that a good knife won't put right, Dawnstar. I gave mine a good trim just yesterday. Maris Pipers have recently dropped in price, but they're still £1.19 a bag! 🙂 |
