Just having a little chuckle at the time Parsley said this would never win any awards. Awkward! Ooh you are awful!

What I posted in the Oliviers thread:
Kinky Boots performance was an odd choice. They should've had one where both Killian and Matt sang as they were both nominated. Raise You Up was the obvious choice as then Amy who was also nominated would've got to sing too and the costumes are more fun in that. Oh well. (In other news Killian has a surprisingly nice bum. Just an observation.)

The number was quite bland and didn't show off Killian or Amy at all, which was odd given that they were both nominated too. A friend who I was chatting with while watching the highlights wasn't sold on the number. Although I was really not a fan of Matt Henry's performance in Kinky Boots, he did give a lovely speech, and dedicating the award to his castmate and follow nominee was very gracious.

I hope it will shifted alot of tickets with the performance and the wins, I know the Oliviers don't have the same impact as the Tony's but I would love this to have a 2/3+ year run... which I don't think is unlikely at all as it does have a fanbase already who go again and again which is great! I have several friends who have seen it multiple times already, so it is definitely doing something right!

With all my respect "fanbase" has very little to do with the show keeping going. Roughly speaking, the show needs 10-12 thousands of people each week. Guess how many of these are "fanbase"?

I understand that completely, I was merely referring to it is building a fanbase, which doesn't hurt a show either. Of course I needs new audiences too, but having a fanbase to spread word of mouth and go again and again doesn't hurt either!

In addition, one of the fastest ways to turn someone off something is to subject them to a fan who won't stop going on about how wonderful it is and who doesn't seem to understand that if you're not a fan the reason is not because they haven't told you about it enough.

Oh, if only I could like this 1,000 times over! In my personal opinion, I think an Olivier Award win won't boost ticket sales for this, mainly because it's still not really in the public eye enough for them to care about it. If anything, they may stumble across their performance which is what they'll probably base their judgement on and unfortunately it was not executed anywhere near as well as it could've been. In The Heights and Guys & Dolls, for example, both gave brilliant performances that really sell the show and can be used well for marketing. I, personally, wouldn't necessarily use this particular Kinky Boots performance to market the show.

Fans going again and again aren't going to increase a shows run. They need the tourists and casual theatregoer to attend and at full price. Awards are essentially marketing tools and having Olivier winner Best musical on the poster is just one way to get someone to buy a ticket.

I know the number is all about the shoes but they didn't come over well on TV and all the trenchcoats made it look dull/weird/something it didn't work for me as a showcase number.

Has Parsley been seen since her show lost all of its awards? As we all knew it would. Just having a little chuckle at the time Parsley said this would never win any awards. Awkward! Ooh you are awful!

So the show tonight was, as always, amazing! Arun, on just his second performance as Lola was sensational and well worth the time! I was in front row of the sold out show (yep, house full sign and everything!) and from the beginning you could tell the Kinky fans were in attendance! I don't think I have ever seen such a reaction to a show bar it being a final performance, just incredible!
However, disaster also struck. At the end of Act I, the safety curtain literally came crashing down with a loud bang from the top of the theatre. It meant the interval was about 45 minutes long to fix it and for it to be raised! It was quite startling, even the orchestra were quite shaken up.

That is scary. I wonder what triggered it. It was pretty scary, a few of us in the front row got quite a shock indeed!

There is no performance tonight at Kinky anyway, which was already scheduled as an off day, so they will have the time today to sort out whatever the problem was properly so that it doesn't happen again.

What is Aruns voice like?

What is Aruns voice like? His voice is great! He has much better pronunciation than Matt (not knocking Matt as he is brilliant!) and he really goes for the riffs where he can, which considering it is only his 3rd performance, is quite a feat on his part! He really goes for the comedy too, which obviously really works for his character and gained applause a lot throughout the night!
The only trouble he had was his Hold Me in Your Heart was near perfection throughout until the last note, which unfortunately toward the end his voice did crack on the last note. Though I don't think you would notice as it was a show where the audience did cheer before the end of the note, at least those of us in the first few rows could tell his voice didn't make it to the end of the song. But otherwise faultless.
If you get the chance to see him when Matt or Callum are not on, I would highly recommend seeing him for this performance, as he is sensational, much like Matt! (I haven't seen Callum yet so I can't judge!)

I don't know if anyone owns the Brochure for the show, but it features amazing never released production photos from the show, but one of my favourite parts is, and I don't know if everyone was aware, each of the Angels has their own individual finale costumes, even the swings and understudy Angels. So even though we only see 6 nightly, there are actually 10 different Angel looks for the finale that each different Angel wears dependant of when they go on! Really amazing costumes too

Wife will be in London next weekend. She wants to see Kinky Boots on Saturday night - landing at Heathrow in the morning so dayseats is likely not an option - nor is matinee. Any advice on discounted tickets?

Really amazing costumes too I think there are more than 10 looks. As far as I remember, there is that "iconic" costume of a union-jack coloured beefeater and if the "original" Angel (I am bad with the names in the mornings) is not on than a swing wears it, but if the very same swing is on simultaneously with the "union jack" one I think, he wears something else. Correct me if I'm wrong
