Nothing can be more over the top than the audience at the Toxic Avenger filming lol.

I was under he illusion Lola got entrance applause at most shows anyway? It seems like that based on the audios, videos and when I've seen the show live anyway. 😂

Every show I've been to, Lola always gets entrance applause. Charlie never has due to him appearing unexpectedly midway through a scene.

Well, the way they introduce Lola, it's obvious they are asking for applause.

Hi has anyone dayseated for this recently? Don’t get into london until 11am on Saturday and I know the day tickets are available from 10.30. Do you think I’d be able to get a pair if I wasn’t there when the box office opened? Honestly, pretty unlikely. Last weekend there were 30 by the time the box office even opened. Better to try the todaytix lottery, I think. I stage doored for this back in August on a Friday. It was school holidays and a Friday but completely dead. Also walked past the theatre 3 weeks ago, about 9:30, again in school holidays and nobody queuing. Remember on a Saturday there’s two shows to choose from so there would be more people as double the chance. I don’t think this show regularly has a full house everyday so even if there are no dayseats left, there’s still unsold normal seats that I’m sure they’d discount you for? It’s worth a shot deffo imo

We’ve day seated for this show for a fair few times this past couple of months, every Saturday that we’ve gone there’s been at least 25-30 people by the time the box office opened. As for weekdays Wednesday this week there was about 15 of us, a Thursday a few weeks ago there was only 5. Saturday’s are a lot busier than weekdays currently.

TodayTix aren't doing the lottery during the filming, but they have the days down as 27th-29th...a mistake I hope! So I'd imagine maybe no dayseats either?

Matt & Killian are back tonight, filming doesn’t start until tomorrow though, tonight is more of a warm up for them. There’s no todaytix lottery or dayseats for Tuesday-Thursday performances even though Thursday won’t be recorded, believe they are taking out the first few rows to allow for the cameras etc.

Well, balls. I was intending on coming on Thursday to see Jordan and Jemal together and hoping for a lottery (or loser rate) ticket. Thanks for the heads up, guess I'll have to think again.

alison I’ve had to book a ticket for that performance as I was intending to do the same before I found out. There’s some good offers around for that show currently though.

I went tonight, it was fabulous. Killian got a slightly delayed cheer on his entrance from the people who knew who he was/knew it was his first night back. Matt got a rapturous applause while he was still in darkness! The Lola effect I suppose. Both got huge applause on their Act 2 solos, and the atmosphere was quite incredible by the end. No cameras set up yet. I am going again on Wednesday!

Poor Killian. I love the guy, but I can't get on board with the short hair and beard. I get he can't help it because of Les Mis, but he looks so much older than he should for Charlie!

Well gosh that was lovely last night!
I was sat further back in the stalls (row T) than I have been before, usually anything E and forwards, I don't know if it was that or the filming that made it feel more subdued to me than previous visits. Good buzz in the audience before curtain up. No applause at Killians entry (which pleased me, I'd seen posts on facebook about how there was going to be riotous applause on his entry, which feels to me that people were making it more about them than about the story ... ). Killians voice was great (sorry haters, my opinion) but Matt - glorious Matt - felt like he was holding back from the previous visits I've made (I've only ever seen Matt in the role, he IS my Lola). First time I saw Kinky Boots - the first night in London - the audience clapped along with The Sex Is In The Heel, but didn't last night, again, filming? But huge cheers for the Angels, for Matt & Killians bows.
The flow was wonderful, one tiny corpse when Nicola does the reveal of the factory into flats and Lola does her appearance, Killian lost it at Matt's eyeroll, which the audience enjoyed muchly.
Loved it, glad I went.
For those technically interested, they had a camera spinning across the floor at the front of the stage. Think it was 3 rows of about 5 seats in rows G-K either side taken our for cameras. Two cameras set up rear stalls in the aisle between rows R&S.
Jerry Mitchell came on at the beginning to practice the whoops and cheers etc, said the filming is for Cinema release and DVD.

I was also there and excited to see Killian and Matt having not done so in their first run.
However, if I'm really honest, they left me a bit cold. I agree with londonmzfitz above - I wonder if Matt was sick or worried about making it through the show vocally. He almost spoke-sung his way through Land of Lola, did none of the high notes and even missed a couple of words here and there, potentially struggling with breathing or placement etc. He cut the final Hold Me In Your Heart note really short and only just about hit it. However, Not My Father's Son was beautiful and there's no denying him and Killian have great chemistry together.
As for Killian, I really enjoyed his acting choices; he delivered lines in ways I've never thought about before, alongside nailing all the comedy. Yet I just don't think his voice really suits these songs; it's too rough/gruff - which works more for some shows I've seen him in, having enjoyed his Huey Calhoun and Valjean - while I felt like he was forcing or straining a lot of the big notes out. He often slides up (nothing wrong with that in principle) to hit them too, which results in some interesting phrasing, and to me it's almost like he's on the verge of cracking, not making it up there at all, or on occasion just needing to clear his throat.
I appreciate he's in the middle of long stint in Les Mis and is probably having to look after his voice more/in different ways now than when he first did Kinky Boots. However, on last night's evidence, I'd say David Hunter, Oliver Tompsett and Simon-Anthony Rhoden are all much stronger leads who are better suited to the music and style of performance.
That said, everyone's energy was high and the Angels as usual were fantastic. The ensemble are consistently strong... picks probably being Jordan Fox, who added whole new layers to Harry yesterday and a shout-out to Anna Stolli who did a great job as Trish too. There was a great buzz in the room that I was glad to be a part of (and Jerry Mitchell was charm personified before curtain up). I'm sure they'll put together the footage from both nights really well and it can be a fitting documentation of this wonderful show.

I wonder if they'll try to use the soundtrack (which is so powerful). Maybe KD & MH really went for it on Tuesday and knackered themselves. I was holding my breath for Killian through Soul of a Man, first time I saw David Hunter as Charlie his voice cracked and I've found I've listened for it since .. Matt has always belted Lola before, really didn't see that last night. Shame really they didn't tape Killians last night as the energy was just out of this world.
But still a lovely thing.

I was also there last night, compared to Monday I agree they didn’t sound as strong vocally. I’ve heard that Matt had to perform Sex is in the Heel six times during the daytime filming on Tuesday so if both he and Killian were indeed made to sing those songs that many times to get the right shots/sound and then perform for an audience that evening then it’s no surprise it was starting to affect their vocal strength by last nights performance. I’m very glad I went last night though, it was an incredible atmosphere, Jerry definitely added to that by kicking off the evening with his little warm up, it for everyone onside from the very beginning - I know most of us knew what was going on but a few around me didn’t have a clue about the filming until Jerry mentioned it.

I went again last night because, obviously, once wasn't going to be enough. The atmosphere was great, lots of "Omg how dare she?" and "Ooh he didn't say that!" reactions from the audience. Lots of fun. I'd hate to be the person who has to clean up the confetti.
I echo what others have said about Matt's voice. He was holding back a lot on Land of Lola, on Monday also. Hold Me In Your Heart was brilliant though, he got a bit emotional last night which is maybe we he cut the last note short. I'd say overall the performances were incredible, especially given they've been filming all day. They must be exhausted. I went to stage door last night and overheard Killian tell someone they were asked to do the show a week and a half in advance. Pretty insane, especially given he's currently on tour in another show! I'd be very interested to know how much they've been paid for the last few days, their Christmases are sorted I'd imagine!
I have to say also, this show is up there in my top 3. It's so endearing, funny, touching, has a wonderful, important message and you can't leave not in a good mood. It's such a shame it's closing, it should run for years and years.

I really wish Killian had shaved for the part. I think a clean shaven Charlie is far more important than a bearded Jean Valjean of whom is not even being filmed.

I think he looks foxy with a beard. I think he knows his way around a boudoir.

I agree that I’d rather Killian didn’t have the beard, I fully understand why he does, but it isn’t Charlie for me. I went again tonight to see Jordan and Jem again and the confetti was still everywhere. Obviously they’ve tried to clear it up as best as they can but I imagine they’ll be finding pieces for the rest of the week at least, the fact it was caught up in light fittings and such like isn’t helping on that front. Did create a laugh when pieces decided to very slowly fall down during a few scenes.
