This means something is going straight into the Adelphi, because for a while, it has been a case of keeping Kinky Boots open until something else wants to come in. You didn’t read my Mary Poppins post then? I did. But whilst I agre it will likely happen, until it is offically announced it still should be considered speculation to save arguements sake. Its like me saying My Fair Lady or Mean Girls will take over the Drury Lane and Savoy. Its all well and good just saying that, but until its officially announced, it should be treated just as speculation.

Ive just booked. Row H, closest I could get as I needed three seats together. So much for me saving money. I can tell it’s going to be a fabulous show though, the atmosphere will be incredible. I feel for the cast though, to be only a week into the contract (excluding rehearsals) before being told it’s closing must be difficult. Yes it’s a risk they all know about and take with every job, and at least they’ve got a fair few months notice but still. It’s definitely had a good solid run though. Must admit I’m sad to see it close, especially if it’s for something like Mary Poppins. I’d much rather see it close for a show that we’ve not had in London before but that’s just me

Wonder if they do a Jersey Boys style closing? By which I mean the show closed at identical times both sides of the Atlantic.

Rather gutted about this news - 3 of my favourite shows- Kinky Boots, Dreamgirls and 42nd St closing at the same time next year. I have re-visited all 3 shows several times which is very unusual for me. Will have to get a couple more visits in before they close.

It will close on Broadway before it closes here.

Whilst I'm fine with Dreamgirls going as this current cast, bar the three Dreams, is rather dead. I'm hoping 42nd Street chooses to close February/March rather than January. That is the one I care most about, and I will be there at the final show no matter what!

I wouldn’t be surprised if it closed too in New York.
For the shows you mention, the Marquis is free, good chance the Palace with be free, cannot see Mockinbird running long, nor Carousel, Waitress may be vulnerable once the latest star casting leaves.
3 Disney shows running in the West End is plenty, also strong competition for family shows, such as Matilda, Wicked and Harry Potter. Also rumoured that Frozen will go into Drury Lane so 4 Disney shows will be a tough sell.

To Kill a Mockingbird will be a limited run from November to March, it'd be a bit tight to get a show in the Shubert before the Tony cut off date, The Palace is being redeveloped so nothing is going there for 2-3 years. I imagine either Aladdin or Poppins will have closed by the time Frozen opens which if it's going to Drury Lane won't be until late 2020.

I'm even more annoyed that the closing date is my Dad's 70th birthday. There's no way I could go.

Nearly booked something for that date the other day. Very pleased I didn’t as there’s no way I’m missing the last one of this. Phew!

What is the front Stalls usually priced at? Because I've just gone to look on the website and since the show announced closure, the final night's front Stalls are completely sold out so fand are clearly splashing the cash to be there!

You sure they haven’t just put them on reserve for some reason? Given that there are still plenty elsewhere in the theatre at all different prices that seems more likely to me than them instantly getting sold.

I suppose it wouldn't surprise me if they have been put aside, but it also wouldn't surprise me to see the superfans be out in full force. Remember the first cast change when Killian and Amy left? People were in the day seat line from the Friday show the night before!

One of my friends got an email yesterday reminding her that she is seeing Kinky Boots soon - except she is not! She has never booked for it.
It looks like a legit email - so I'm wondering, is there some kind of database error at their end? Have they accidentally mass-mailed when it should have been targeted?
Has anyone else received one of these emails in error?

It had a really good run- it's a gem of a show, and I think it'll have a great touring life and that's a barn of a theatre to fill so I'd rather it go out before it's 'Love Never Dies' levels of awkward empty.

It's true that Kinky Boots had a good life - it's just kinda saddening to see fresh shows like this and Dreamgirls go, while other shows seem to run forever and ever. I'd much rather see stuff like Lion King, Wicked and Phantom pack it in for some much-needed fresh breeze. Younger fresher shows would surely benefit if tourists weren't inevitably drawn to those perpetuum mobiles. Yes, yes, I know, those shows are much loved, keep people employed and so on, but I just think the more shows like this run forever, the harder it is for newer shows to find an audience.

Sad that its closing but a really good run. Trying to decide whether to get one last trip in or wait for the tour.

On RUT's twitter they posted about an error of emails going out to the wrong people so let them know to not worry

We were at Matt's final performance too - it was mental, absolutely crazy, so this should be special. I don't usually do things like this but I'm kinda getting swept along! 42nd Street final night too is a must. Geek right enough.

theatregeek annoyingly I was seeing a show last night and had put my phone away all of a few minutes before the announcement was made. At least I have tickets and they're in the stalls, that's all I care about right now. Kinky is the only show on in the West End where I absolutely have to be at the closing night regardless of the price. I'll most likely go to 42nd Street as well but on a much cheaper ticket. I've not been to a closing night before, I've done a few cast changes but that's it. Unfortunately I couldn't make Matt's last show but I heard just how crazy it was, so as much as I don't want this show to close I'm looking forward to it. I can feel it's going to be one of those special performances that I'll continue to remember for a long time after

Just popped in the box office and booked some tickets for the final show which they conveniently scheduled to be on my birthday next year. Will be very sad to see it go, but the atmosphere is bound to be incredible. I wonder if Cyndi or Harvey will come over for it.

I'm shocked by this, I thought it'd run for a good long time and it deserves to. One of the best shows out there right now.

I will do! I had tissues on me for the cast change that just happened (luckily I didn't really need them) so I'll definitely have them on me for the final day! And no doubt I'll need them all, especially if anyone on stage or sat/stood near to me starts crying because that's what tends to set me off
