Sometimes he went places I didn't quite get, but he was always the supreme artist
And he could play EVERYTHING!

Didn't really follow much of what he did since the mid 90s, but yes, I share your pain - a real loss to the musical world.

I feel he suffered from a lack of quality filter, particularly in recent years - he was phenomenally prolific, and could have done with someone to edit his output. But at his best, wow he was incredible. Was listening to a radio station earlier tonight that was playing 100% Prince, and there is so much incredible stuff in his catalogue.And his influence across the music scene was profound. I'm just fed up of watching rolling news of responses to the death of a much-loved artist. Maybe we can have May off as a holiday from deaths of talented and popular people?

A loss of a huge talent - he wrote an incredible amount for other artists as well his own recordings. Like Victoria Wood, far too young to leave this world. RIP.
