It is a truth universally acknowledged that there are two types of people in the world - those who come from Yorkshire, and those who wish they did!
I shall be celebrating tonight with a pint of Henderson's Relish.

Yes it’s about time we got the recognition we so rightly deserve.
I’ll be having a big slab of Yorkshire Pudding, with jam on.

As a Lancastrian having migrated to Yorkshire (where I await the death penalty if I were to return across the Pennines), I absolutely concur. It's chuffin' lovely here.

Is that before or after the one with just gravy on? After as a pudding. But my Nana often skipped the main course and went straight for pudding

Flat cap and whippet under arm. Or a whippet wearing a flat cap?

As a Yorkshire lad (now pensioner!) I live in Clapham in London and the best Yorkshire puddings are at a steak restaurant on Clapham Park Road near where I live - Knife. Their Sunday lunches are always booked flat out for 3 sittings. Divine!

Pfft. Yorkshire is overrated imo. Derbyshire is much better.

Since when has Yorkshire had a ‘DAY’? Since 1975, when it was 'created' by the Yorkshire Ridings Society.

Well, sorry I missed it all those years. What was I doing? As long as you weren't celebrating Lancashire then you'll let you off

I hadn't forgotten, obvs, but it had temporarily slipped my mind that, along with its own day...and its own flag...and its own anthem...and its own cycle race, Yorkshire has its very own symphony. As you'd expect from the country's largest county, it is quite long, so I'd suggest settling down with a nice cup of Yorkshire Tea and a Fat Rascal (™). (The casual observer might think that every eccentric in the three ridings was commandeered for the accompanying film. Trust me, there's plenty more where they came from! I think I must have been busy, or summat. )

What's this TallPaul? How long can we drag out Yorkie Day? I'll have you know it's long gone and today is, in fact, National Lefthanders' Day. (Those of us who are amphibious are also entitled to join in the celebrations.)

Trust me, Tibidabo, I'll drag it out as long as I want to, thank you very much! And, for the record, it's always Yorkshire, never Yorkie (unless specifically referring to the chocolate bar). If you could (burly)bear that in mind, it would be much appreciated. 🙂
