Would say the cost of a newsreader or reporters' outfits be paid for. Would they have to buy them themselves, do they have stylists who choose the outfits for/in conjunction with them?
This occurred to me after I mentioned BBC personalities pay in another forum topic.
Some shows or presenters have sponsorship/endorsement deals. Holly on This Morning has her ranges with Very, would she be allowed to wear these. I'd figure the Loose Women would be a no brainer for a retailer to supply wear to given the ladies cover a fair range of ages, sizes, ethnicity so you'd reach a big cross section that way.

They get a clothing allowance and bigger names usually get a stylist.

The BBC certainly doesn't have a clothing allowance, for ITV daytime they do have a wardrobe department for each show, I saw a thing online for This Morning where the clothes for the main presenters are chosen weeks in advance, for Loose Women, they have two people who basically come up with a variety of outfits then they ask the panel that day to pick what they like.
What does complicate things is that Holly and Rochelle have stylists who are on hand to choose their outfits.

One thing I would point out is that it’s not unusual for an outfit to be worn by different presenters but with gaps of a few months, more common with female presenters than male presenters.
Ben Shephard I saw on Instagram actually has to pick his outfits for Tipping Point before they start shooting a series and given it’s around 150-160 episodes a year, that’s a lot to choose from but I reckon they can get away with using a shirt a couple of times but with a different jacket and trouser combination and vice versa

Unless you have some deal with a brand or are very very important, you buy your own clothes. As I understand it...

Thanks for the feedback. I know that the ITV horse racing presenter Francesca Cumani has a stylist and they go for a lot of retro pieces. Some outfits get recycled as I've seen certain presenters wearing the same thing again or there might be comments if someone wore a distinctive piece say leather skirt or leather trousers.

Leaving aside the "none of your damned business" aspect of it, I find it baffling that anyone remembers what a complete stranger was wearing a few days ago. I don't even remember what I was wearing a few days ago.
And I find it quite disturbing that someone can not only remember what clothes a person they've never met has worn before but also attack them for it, and then behave as if it's the person who doesn't throw out their clothes after a few hours of use who's the one with a problem.

The likes of Holly, Rochelle, the female presenters on GMB etc all name check what they wore on their social media platforms so it’s not unusual for someone or a magazine to be able to find that information with too much issue.

I honestly couldn't tell you what newsreaders or pretty much any other presenters are wearing, even when I'm watching the programme. And normal people re-wear outfits regularly, so it would seem awfully wasteful if they didn't too.
The only item of tv presenter clothing I remember noticing was when Steph McGovern wore a really nice top with a guitar on for something (Have I Got News for You I imagine) and I wanted it.

Then there are shows like Dragons Den where the Dragons wear the same clothes for an entire series (so they can edit the pitches into a series of episodes in any order they like).

I remember when Judy’s top fell down and she was wearing a great bra and that time Bjork wore a swan to an awards ceremony. But general day to day tv I have no understanding how people remember what someone wore.
Are people allowed to wear freebies on the bbc?

What about Theresa May? Did she pay for her clothes or was there a budget? Did she have a stylist arrange it? Or did she close off Zara so she could wander round exclusively like a fresh field of wild wheat?

Or did she close off Zara so she could wander round exclusively like a fresh field of wild wheat? I assume there must have been a budget because she certainly rolled out that blue suit with the stand up collar often enough. I was surprised she didn’t push the boat out on her last day. That suit seemed to be present on several of her most “difficult” days so why wear it for the final shout?
