I saw the new ending that ends on her stealing the diamond and saying "everyone's a crook". That's why I was glad I waited and saw it later on during the run, because it means I missed the apparently rather unpleasant original ending. involving a lighter and implied burning to death?

Anyone wanting to see this mid-September is going to be disappointed. It appears it is shutting from 7th-17th September and Nina Conti is doing a show at the Criterion instead. www.criterion-theatre.co.uk/whats-on. Not unprecedented for Mischief Theatre, as they shut TPTGW for a week in February 2015, but I am surprised as I had heard they had considered shutting TCAABR but decided against it. Evidently they've changed their minds! I wonder how this comes over to the general public, as it is unusual for a West End show to close for a bit like this.

Oh it certainly makes sense for those involved in the show. I just wonder if it makes sense to the general public, who are used to West End shows being open 6 days a week, 52 weeks a year. And I'm not sure it's saving on understudy rehearsals since all 3 understudies seem to have had/are having scheduled shows for most of their cover roles anyway.

Priscilla shut for a week during the quiet period as well, perhaps it's more cost effective to close the show when sales are going to be down rather than stay open and potentially lose money

Crazy show tonight! To start with Steven Rostance was on for Cooper & Ellie Morris on for Caprice so they drafted in one of the new understudies, who apparently hasn't even rehearsed properly or got costumes, to do a few bits in the ensemble. Then in Act 2 the wall scene didn't work so we had the 4 actors crawling along the vent come onstage then nothing at the back. Cue some hilarious improv before one of the stage managers had to come on & stop the show. After a wait they had to re-start on the next scene, with more improv to try to fill in some of the missing bits. If you're going to have a show stopped due to technical difficulties it is a massive advantage having an improv group! A bit later on, just before Warren tries to commit suicide Jonathan Sayer got a massive laugh when he was cataloguing Warren's woes & ended up with something along the lines of "And my best scene got cut!" PS Anyone wanting to see understudies, Gareth Tempest will be on as Warren all next week.

High numbers side, anything that gives a clear view to the top of the stage - basically, forward of row J. Tickets are priced in direct proportion to view, go H to D, as close to the expensive seats as you can. DO NOT take anything on the "low numbers" side forward of row G. You will miss a lot. Stick to high numbers if you can. That's much help, thanks!
The rake is also shallow in this theatre I've heard?

First time seeing the show this afternoon and I was crying with laughter. As good as their previous work is, this is in a different league for me. A privilege to see such inspired creative genius on show, in both the writing and the staging as well as the performances.
Ellie Morris was on for Nancy Wallinger and did a great job.
I wonder if Henry Lewis could be persuaded to release his own sat nav. His booming dulcet tones would make every car journey so much more entertaining. Honestly, he only has to open his mouth and I'm in stitches before he's even said anything.

Saw this a couple of weeks ago and had loads of fun. It's quite refreshing to see the cast looking and acting as different characters (comparing to their previous couple of shows) Although still would prefer something-else-going-wrong (with the Crocodile, please!)

Could anyone help with some seating advice for this please? I've studied theatremonkey.com but can't quite make my mind up!
I'd quite like a bargain as I may have booked far too many shows for my holiday already! I can't decide between front row for £40.75, stalls C22 for £16.25 or D22 for £30.75. Both listed as restricted view. I'd like to save as much money as possible and don't mind missing a tiny bit but as it will probably be my only trip to see the show I'd also like the best balance between cost and view.

They sometimes tweet cover information but not always, for instance they haven't mentioned any of Ellie's dates as far as I recall. ETA 9/7/16: in fairness to West End Covers, they have just tweeted that Gareth's on for Mitch today & tomorrow

Was in the audience tonight - their continual tinkering with the script and staging just betters it every time. Such is the advantage of having your writers in the cast, I guess!
Now the flowers Sam buys for Caprice are labelled as RIP. She doesn't make reference to it but this does mean Simon the seagull gets his own headstone later on.
I'm sure there are plenty of small changes - but this certainly gets better with age.
Gareth was on for Mitch, very solid. Not quite the sparkle in the eye Henry has, but a very believable crook. Need to get down to see some more of the covers.
What's this about them having new understudies? That wasn't obvious tonight in the ensemble stuff (Ellie was mostly doubling in for what Gareth usually does).

There are 2 new understudies, 1 male & 1 female. I've seen Mark Hammersley on a couple of times but he wasn't doing a full track, just the line about Sam being the best lawyer & the 2nd seagull scene. I haven't seen Holly Sumpton on yet. I was told the last time I asked that they were still rehearsing but that was 2 or 3 weeks ago so you'd think they would be rehearsed in by now.

Further to my previous post, Holly Sumpton was on today. I understand it was her first time on. However she was only in the Act 2 opening church scene. I'm still not sure why the new understudies aren't doing full track covering.
Ellie Morris was on for Ruth today, pleased I finally managed to see her. I thought she did a good job in a role that doesn't fit her as well as Caprice does. No amount of costuming, wigging & make up can disguise the fact that she looks about 25 years too young to be Dave Hearn's mother!

Saw this for the first time yesterday afternoon, spur of the moment... and I loved it! I wasn't sure a the every beginning, but once the scnee with the fence happened, I was toally on board! The cast are fantastic, the script brilliant. I would be interested to go again and see exactly what is ad-libbed, what is scripted, it wad brilliant! And the set really surprised me. I went in expecting very basic and to an extent it was basic, but the scenes in the second half toward the end I was really surprised just how much was going on with it! It was also lovely to see, on a Sundsy afternoon, a near full house, by the looks of it, on all three levels. I was in the second row and it looked pretty much full to me! I am rarely so impressed by plays that I want to go back. Curious Incident, Let The Right One In and y Night With Reg are the only ones previous to this that have made me want to return, but I would definately return to this show again, I loved it! And I hope and have a feeling it could nab that Comedy award at the Olivier's! It was also my first fortay into Mischief Theatre Company and I will 100% be making visits to their other two shows and whatever comes next! Just fantastic!

I used the Sunday Saver (managed to get them on the day), which is Band A seats (usually £50-odd) for £25 on both shows on a Sunday. They do this for PTGW too, for anyone who may be interested! And this might be one for @theatremonkey - not tread on toes but just as an observant audience member I must stress!! - but I was in Row C Dress Circle with my friend, seats 6 & 7, which I saw were red on your plan which I check for any theatre before I book tickets! As it happens, the pillar is actually between seats 8 & 9, as seats 1 & 2 of Row C are actually separate to the rest of the row for some reason. So C1 & 2, a gap for the aisle, then the rest of Row C from 3 onward. Probably haven't explained myself very well! This means that I would say that 6 & 7, even for the normal £50, I would rate definitely white (if not green when using the Sunday Saver!), as it offers a really fantastic view, with only a minuscule fraction of action missed at the window of Caprice's apartment.
