In case anyone is interested, me trying to round up how I feel about the show in a rather long Twitter thread.

I ditched my planned matinee on Saturday & went for the 83rd & last time, as I was pretty sure then that it'd be my last opportunity to see it. Glad I did but unfortunately I couldn't say thank you & goodbye to the cast with the WE stage dooring ban. I am absolutely and genuinely fascinated by the idea that you went to see it 83 times! (My 'record' is 6 times, which even the director of the play thought was silly for/over a short 4.5 week run, and 4 nights in a row for a different play - but I would have thrown in a few more nights for that one had it been possible, admittedly. Doesn't even compare!) What made you want to go back so many times? :)

I am a repeat-viewer in general but this is the most times I've seen a show (only a few behind with Showstopper but as that's different each time it's not really the same thing). To start with it was when they kept re-writing the show over the first few months, which I found fascinating. After that it was mostly seeing the different casts & trying to work through seeing all the understudies for each. Over the nearly 4 years I saw more than 50 understudy/role combinations. The enabling factor, as mentioned in my Twitter thread, was being able to usually get a seat at the end of the second row of the stalls for under £25 even at the last minute.

This is going to sound like such a cheesy post, but I really love the idea of loving a play so much to want to go see it 83 times! :) (You must have become like family to everyone at that theatre, too.)
May we all have more plays like that once this madness is over! :)

I was due to see this again next week and now feel genuinely sad that I'll never be able watch it again. As much as I disapprove of bootlegging, I really hope a copy of this turns up at some point.

It doesn't matter now but I wonder what had been lined up for the Criterion and the Trafalgar Studios? An announcement had probably been due any day 😩

Given the size of the Criterion, I'd be amazed if anyone managed to illicitly film in there without being spotted.

We passed the Criterion on Sunday, when I mentioned my partner that it will close soon. We agreed that we will try and see it again before the closure as it was really so funny. Little did we know that the day after, on our way to Upstart Crow, there will be a decision to close all theatres.
Just so sad. London is so miserable right now. London is not good for community spirit and self isolation, it only works when it's full of life.

Would be smashing if they released a recording in return for a donation. Doubtful, but would be lovely.

TallPaul Non-existant! (Very few internationally-performed operas in Hungarian, opera listening being how I've picked up most of my limited knowledge of Italian & German.) I saw Jonathan Sayer tweet the other day that there's a production of The Play That Goes Wrong opening in Ukraine. Impressive for a country to tackle that while at war.
