"International version" do you mean World Tour version? Unsure about orchestra size but otherwise that one retains the original staging, sets and costumes does it not?

What shows do the alternate Phantom and Christine usually do (in London)? The actors playing The Phantom are scheduled to perform 8 shows a week in London. The Standby is only called in times of holiday or sickness.

"International version" do you mean World Tour version? Unsure about orchestra size but otherwise that one retains the original staging, sets and costumes does it not? For the World Tour Maria Björnson’s designs were adapted by the Edward Pierce Studio in the US to facilitate travelling with the original chandelier drop without having to install it into the ceiling of each receiving house. Unfortunately this meant sacrificing the central angel in the proscenium in order for the cables to pass through to the ceiling track (2 cables and a track replace the originals’ 6 cable sling configuration). The angel is now static and incorporated into the (rather less impressive) rooftop scenery at the end of Act 1 for the Phantom to emerge from. (Hopefully that didn’t require a spoiler alert).

Oh, of course, I'd forgotten about that. Still much better executed, and preferable to Laurence Connor's restaged version though, in my opinion!

I actually quite liked the angel staging during the World Tour, it makes for quite a nice visual during the actual chandelier drop although does cut into the rooftop staging.
What was definitely a bit of a let down was the ‘flame’ effects during the Graveyard scene. Although I guess those aren’t terribly impressive in the original either but are at least more than just what effectively looks like puffs of air...

So this is not a new or original tour - but the international version... and sadly it’s with the smaller orchestra! Spoiler alert and so disappointed.. How do you know?

..no point making a new version. Just get the old set and props out of storage. Easier!

It’s described as the UK and Ireland Tour as far as I’ve seen. No mention of International.

Even without a hard border, the tour becomes international once it crosses into Ireland, surely?

Heard two rumours about casting for this in the last week. Lee mead was one and Killian Donnelly was the other. I saw Killian a few months ago as Jean Valjean and thought he was wonderful. Hope its him. Well done on scooping Baz by a week Theatrefan48 . Hopefully you can take over full time.

I like Killian, but does he have to be in absolutely everything? It would have been nice to see someone else have a bash - Lee Mead would have been an interesting choice.
I expect I'll pop along a couple of times, though!

I didn't really want to see Phantom again as I found it very dated in 2007, but I do love Killian and didn't manage to see him in Les Mis.

If Killian is leaving at the end of the Birmingham run (12th September) could that be to pave the way for him to take over from Josh as the West End cast change is around that time?

Gutted we won’t get to see Killian in Sunderland. Fingers crossed Dean Chisnall takes over
