Tickets released for tonight apparently if anyone's interested. I went again on Saturday to see alternate Christine and it was so beautiful.

Shockingly this was the first time i have seen Phantom, i have to say that these sort of big classic mega musicals are just not something i go for, but seeing as it was coming to my local i thought why not.
As expected, i didn't absolutely love it, it's just not my usual cup of tea, but i did of course enjoy it and very much appreciated what a spectacular production it was. I of course cannot compare this to what is playing in the West End, i assume from comments it's even more impressive, but what i saw i thought was fantastic and some moments and set changes really took my breath away and were some of the best moments i've seen, certainly for a touring piece. The orchestra was stunning and i loved how loud and sumptuous it was at certain points. The Christine i thought was brilliant and i enjoyed Killian though i have to say i'd have preferred a more operatic voice, of which i am used to from the various phantom performances i've seen through the years on TV, youtube and concerts ect. Oh and i really feel the prosthetic for the phantoms face could actually be a little more realistic? I wasn't up close but it just looked very fake. Overall i'm certainly glad to see it and tick it off the list, i always felt a bad theatre fan for never seeing Phantom or Les Mis so that's one down and one more to go.

Any chandelier updates?
Also, in the lake scene do the candlesticks appear rise up from the water?,

Any chandelier updates? Also, in the lake scene do the candlesticks appear rise up from the water?, Yes do they (thankfully). They're using the same mechanism from the world tour production and using candles that "telescope" up from the floor. It makes it look exactly like the London production with minimal effort.

I saw the matinee yesterday and after feeling slightly indifferent to it at the start really enjoyed it. Nothing looks cheap about it. Slightly odd thing surely there’s always been a splash when Raoul jumps down ? There was only a very audible thud yesterday. Audience adored it, standing ovation by the time the full cast were on stage

Slightly odd thing surely there’s always been a splash when Raoul jumps down ? There was only a very audible thud yesterday. That's interesting I've never heard/heard of a splash in the London show when Raoul jumps down through the trapdoor- most conversations have been about whether or not the actor jumps due to personal preference/physical conditions etc.? I did appreciate the effort in this tour show to keep the bridge jump, though the stage was relatively bright and I found it funny seeing the dark 'box' slide out, Raoul land with a heavy thud, and it sliding back in...

I saw this in Leicester yesterday. I have to admit that I like PHANTOM, but it is not a favourite show of mine. The last time I saw it in the West End (over 10 years ago now), I absolutely hated it. I thought that it looked tired (the chandelier moved at a snail’s pace for example, diminishing any sense of drama), was badly sung and cast (Phantom was Ramon Karimloo who I really did not see what all the fuss at the time was about; I cannot remember the Christine but I did not rate her either), and I just remember two stage hands trying to remove a piece of cloth that got caught, which was seemingly more interesting than the show itself, so much so, that I just watched that for 10 minutes.
Well, I had none of those thoughts with this new tour. I really enjoyed it. Yes, there are a few differences from the original, but to me it is actually very faithful to the West End production. The sets looked beautiful, the staging was excellent and it has a strong cast that sang the score well. For the first time I can remember with PHANTOM, I was actually moved, and had tears in my eyes at numerous points. The final lair was excellent, and was pretty much in bits when Christine gave Phantom back the ring.
So glad I took a punt on this. Looking forward to LOVE NEVER DIES in October.

What does the email say? I was meant to be seeing Phantom in a few days in Manchester and my credit voucher came through the other day.

I realy hope Phantom is re-scheduled for Manchester. And indeed Les Mis for The Lowry and Bristol Hippodrome. Yes it is being rescheduled. As Burlybear said above, plus this is the message I got: "However, we’re pleased to inform you that we are currently working with the Producers to reschedule the postponed performance of The Phantom of the Opera, to ensure you still get to see the show. We expect to have the new dates confirmed by the end of this month. If you would prefer to pause your refund request until the new date is confirmed, we would be happy to offer you something to make your next theatre visit even more special."

So unbelievably sad about this.
Apart from Les Mis, this tour would have been the biggest selling musical currently on the circuit. If even they don't feel able to re-schedule, what hope is there for other tours. (I guess one caveat is that the cost is higher so further cancellations of rescheduled dates would hit them harder).
A sad day though. I wasn't expecting an all out cancellation on this.
Do wonder if Les Mis will follow as that is also Cam Mac (though I have heard from venues that they are planning 2022 dates.....)

So sad for all the cast and crew, to get such a dream job then for it to be cut short is horrible

I used my refund vouchers from Curtains to book this. I figured next February would be safe. I know it’s not as simple as that but it still hurts

It’s so sad that it’s come to this. But to be honest I’m imagining it’s more down to pathing and booking venues than financial difficulties, with pretty much every collapsed tour moving into next year there arent really many extended free dates in these theatres they could have slotted into without having big gaps in the tour schedule while waiting for certain places to become free. I do hope that it will get to go out and tour at some time in the future, and that every single cast and crew member will be offered either London, the next tour, or a role in another Mackintosh production.

I should have been there tonight for my third and final visit to the tour in Manchester. I was looking forward to this more than anything in 2020. So disappointed for us, for them. Terrible.

Interesting to see in the statement that they now acknowledge this was "reinvented staging of the brilliant original "

Do wonder if Les Mis will follow as that is also Cam Mac (though I have heard from venues that they are planning 2022 dates.....) I've just seen the US tour of Les Mis has cancelled all future dates, and said it would reschedule next year once they know more about the situation. So effectively putting the tour on hold for I'd imagine at least a year.

Killian Donnelly has shared a video on his Twitter of him performing Music of the Night alongside David Hayes in an empty Bord Gais Theatre - it's wonderful.
