I was disappointed with the final season of 'Arrested Development' overall, but I love the final line... if viewers weren't familiar with Liza Minnelli's work outside of the show, I imagine they'd have been left a bit puzzled!
I agree about Six Feet Under, that was a stunning ending. Twin Peaks too, all three seasons had great final episodes.

Anyone who has said anything other than Blakes 7 is wrong.

‘Dawson’s Creek’ got a great ending, it was very sad for ‘Jen’to pass away but it was full circle as it was her arrival to the creek that changed things up for the characters.
It just did some lovely things with its characters and was an effecting emotional but funny send off to a great teen drama.

I just watched the end of Veep. That’s how you end a show.
I cried more than I cried at GoT!

Apart from Blackadder Goes Forth - superb transition from comedy to bathos in just a few frames - I struggle to think of (m)any. Inspector Morse perhaps? The Wire?
It is easier to think of the opposites - The Prisoner, Lost, Ashes to Ashes....
I think this will be a regular problem. In their efforts to milk successful programmes "long format" producers have a tendency to go one season too many and in stringing stories out create so many ramifications that it becomes impossibly to tie things up neatly and credibly. The idea that a tv show ends when the original source material has been exhausted (always a good point to end) has long since been abandoned and once you accept this then anywhere and nowhere is the best place to finish.

I just watched the end of Veep. That’s how you end a show. I cried more than I cried at GoT! Thinking about comedies (albeit a very black one), The Larry Sanders Show wrapped things up perfectly. Also loved the beautifully autumnal end to Ripper Street as the new century dawned.

Oh yes, Veep had a brilliant ending! Such a funny show, I will miss it terribly. Tony Hale deserves an Emmy for his last scene alone.
