A betrayal? Who are you? The Daily Mail? Can’t we discuss anything without sensationalising it and turning it into a lowest common denominator argument on Jeremy Kyle? Having set himself up as pleading for UK theatre, it now looks like he’ll be a “test event” and everyone else can fend for themselves. That’s not a good look. Nor is your obnoxious attitude, to be honest. So he should just stay shut in solidarity with all the other shows?? Or he could do a test event which could hopefully see them come back sooner.

What, one minute “reopen theatres without restrictions”, then the next minute “It’s OK guys, I’ve got my show(s) open as test events, you can all wait for now”? What else is he supposed to do? I’m sure he wishes that all the theatres can open but he has no control over that and he has tried to use his platform to raise awareness to the government that theatres desperately need to get back up and running. Now an opportunity has come his way to get one his shows open and he should just ignore it? That’s ridiculous. Get the show open. Show that theatres can be open and run safely. Otherwise it’s just back to us all twiddling our thumbs and endlessly waiting.

I'm sure many theatre owners and companies would jump at the opportunity to be part of these pilots.
I'm a bit cynical that the news of the pilot was a surprise to ALW.

Nothing would surprise me with this shambolic government. They probably decided to use Cinderella as a trial event and then forgot to call ALW to actually ask him.

The whole shambolic ‘governance’ this country has endured this past 15 months should leave us in no doubt that they are making it up as they go along. Not being guided by anything other than which of their donors they will potentially offend. Sorry if that sounds ‘obnoxious’.

Given Boris's distant relationship with the truth it is entirely possible that he just made it up on the spot to deflect the question. I can imagine it coming as a complete surprise to the people running the trials as well. Hopefully ALW can hold him to it now it has been accidentally announced.

So Cinderella gets to go to the ball early! How nice (for her).
I don’t believe for one tiny moment that ALW wasn’t aware. This will have been going on since he first started the “Ill sue the government” rubbish. Then the newspaper articles about “they’ll have to arrest me” all the time while this was being discussed? All complete spin and PR adding to the narrative he tries to build around himself as the saviour of british musical theatre. I mean, clever. I don’t think any of us saw it coming did we? But it doesn’t paint him in a particularly good light I don’t think.
Anyway, in other Cinders news according to her socials CHF has opened a tuck shop for the cast in her dressing room! This is in addition to the mini-library she set up a couple of weeks ago. You don’t have to pay for the book or some “tuck”, you just have to write something positive in Carrie’s Book Of Happiness and she’ll give you cola and a bag of cheesy wotsits. The cast must ADORE her. I hope they’re squeezing some rehearsals in along with all of this 🙂.

If ALW didn't support the party he did then nobody would be batting an eyelid about this and you know it, that's all this is down to. People not liking his politics and so making a fuss. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. Cinderella is clearly one of the most obvious theatre shows to pick for a trial as a new musical trying to open that's already had to delay and so what if ALW has been pushing for it even behind the scenes? Who wouldn't if they could. And where has he said that now he can open one of his shows he doesn't give a toss about the rest of the industry? He literally hasn't and that accusation is absurd. There will clearly be other shows as part of this trial and so I don't know why everyone is acting like its some special treatment and only he will get this chance. The only reason that we know about Cinderella first is because the prime minister was ASKED about ALW and Cinderella.

She comes across as an utter nightmare and such hard work, honestly.
I do think she's a talented singer though so I am hopeful I'll still get to see Cinerella at some point. I've a ticket for June 25th but I'd rather not go than have to take a big risk with safety...although I do think at some point soon we've got to try and get things running again in earnest or what use is living.
The real cock up here, imho, was Boris setting a date for this "freedom day" hype. I can't believe anyone, even someone like him, took that risk.

She set up a tuck shop and library for the rest of the cast but comes across as "hard work"? It seems quite like a nice and thoughtful thing to do if you ask me but I suppose that doesn't fit the narrative people like to have about her.

Yes, and the selfish cow bought a nice coffee machine when they were at the Haymarket so that her cast mates didn’t have to go and spend £3 on a decent coffee every time. People expect content on her social media but only want stuff that paints her as a nightmare? Yes she grates & virtue signals a bit but she seems like a thoroughly decent human to me.

Mmm. The coffee machine was I think gifted, as are the numerous doughnuts, chocolate etc!

I love watching her Vlogs and think she comes across as excitably and very caring. The library, if you haven't watched, formed from members of the cast expressing an interest in reading and so she has brought books for people to grab and read - pretty common for workplaces to have this i'd of thought.

Why not just buy one, like everybody else does? It’s not really asking for advice, it’s a full on pitch for the coffee machine. It’s a well worn tactic used by influencers. So Carrie gets to be seen as being kind to her fellow cast mates whilst gaining a brand new expensive piece of kit, and picks up more likes on her Instagram.

Why berate someone for being savvy to the world in which they operate?

The company will have a certain budget for gifting/promotion, and she has a lot of followers, plus lots of her cast mates use Instagram/Youtube etc and might mention it (or at least share Carrie's post about it). It seems a pretty savvy business decision to me!

We've filled 87 pages based on four songs and the cast announcement. We need something to bulk it out.

Don’t you worry…I’m about to start a poll of peoples favourite bakes from Ole & Steen. Then tomorrow their fave Pret items leading to an O&S vs Pret showdown on Thursday. That should give us content for days.

Surely it should be a ‘self identifying plus sized spirited n’er do well’? Is Elizabeth happy for you to call her Betty? Oh theres so much to deconstruct here.
