It smacks of wanting to get some extra publicity I’m not sure it is. If they want a set number of weeks between tickets going on sale and the show opening, and if that would involve tickets going on sale mid coronavirus crisis, then it makes sense to me because I can’t imagine the tourist trade is going to be huge over the next few weeks. I’d understand if they postponed it by months- but a few weeks makes no sense. He just wants a headline.

Randomly that’s the date Phantom premiered in London in 1986. Perhaps he’s looking for some good omens?

The tourist trade in Toronto took a very big hit during the SARS outbreak (I was living there at the time), and it certainly had an impact on the big commercial theatre shows.

A 71 year-old lord wants a piece of the Heathers/ Jamie action.
I look forward to the chapter on this in the unauthorized biography.

Whilst I do think it's a move for publicity and a little more time, there is no doubt as COVID-19 heightens in the coming weeks, the west end and all theatres are going to take a massive hit. Someone, I think from the WHO or another body said they think 6-8 weeks from now will be the peak. Then a further 8-10 weeks for it to come back down. A rocky summer ahead, no doubt.

Just read an interview with Emerald Fennel about her new movie with the rather smashing Carey Mulligan in it. She appears to have taken over. Hope her Cinderella is as brave as her film sounds.

Got straight in with the o2 Presale and booked for the final Saturday evening of previews, though the previews don't seem discounted. £25 - £85 then premium up to £140 at the weekend. Looks like big changes in the balcony, 2 extra rows in the middle and one at the sides

Just risked one of the £19.50 side stalls seats for the first preview. The angle won't be great, but it's only a few rows back and the rake is usually good.

Yes other than the extra mid circle rows looks identical (which is a shame but not unexpected).
