Expecting my single ticket to be cancelled in 3....2.... I’m wondering about my pair for this and my 7 for Joseph!

Actually the world premiere of new musical Lady Chatterley's Lover will open at the Shaftesbury Theatre tonight. I’m sure there are others too. Cinderella is NOT the first pandemic musical.

I wonder which venues will take part in the pilot scheme? I've mentioned the Bridge but I wouldn't be surprised if we see the likes of the ROH and the Coliseum take part as well as regional venues like Chichester. My guess is none - it's all too late. I agree, I doubt anyone will take part. It's all too late, and ALW has also set a precedent now that it's unfair for one or two places to be allowed to open without restrictions when others aren't. Plus, is it worth all the hassle for 4 weeks when they'll soon be fully open anyway? It might cost more in the long term to have to install whatever testing/tracing systems required for the pilot schemes than it would to just wait out the 4 weeks at 50%. I think his statement is surprisingly well done. He should have thought about that stuff before he boasted about opening up regardless and that they'd have to come and arrest him, but hey ho. At least it's opening, and - really - it only affects previews. I just hope there's some flexibility in how tickets are returned and allocated. It would be great if they reached out in some way to first give people the option to switch to later in the run rather than just pick at random. It's easier for some people (London-based) to accept a replacement ticket for later in the run than it is for others who have booked for a specific weekend. Though that's probably hard given the timeframe.

Too late for Chichester, they have already moved my booking and contacted all affected customers.

Oh look, another show that I fully expect to be booted out of since I'm on my own. I paid £100 for a good seat intentionally for being at the first performance of a brand new show where we don't know what to expect, I'm not willing to pay that much to be booted later in the run so they'd better be willing to let me have a refund and rebook a cheaper seat.

I suspect there are agreements in place which have to be finalised.

I think so. I sometimes watch Carrie's vlogs and she's been saying that she can't show much of the rehearsals now they're in costume.
Who do we think the man in leather straps (? no idea what they're called) is?

Just had an e mail from Gillian Lynne theatre expecting the worst but it just repeated ALW's statement and saying they would be in touch soon.

Even Lloyd Webber himself said he was "surprised" when he heard Cinderella mentioned as one of the possible pilot schemes by the PM the other day. I doubt the government had given it much thought before making the delay announcement - beyond possibly a quick discussion about the possibility of allowing some productions to continue via pilot schemes which meant it was in Johnson's head as a possibility on Monday. They haven't cared much for theatre for the majority of the last 18 months, I doubt they're giving it any real effort with (possibly) only a month of restrictions to go. I do, however, think it's the right decision from Lloyd Webber's part. There was a lot of unease on social media about Cinderella getting preferred treatment and being allowed to go ahead as planned. He's avoiding a lot of possible negative press by sticking beside the rest of the industry.

So half the audience getting kicked out Not the theatre’s fault but I hoped I was done with all this after having it for Les Mis and Panto at christmas Well they could’ve avoided it by only selling socially distanced first and adding in extras after confirmation they could ? 🤷🏻♀️

I think had ALW not huffed and puffed saying he would sue the government or willing to be arrested, he probably would have considered taking part but he would have looked like a hypocrite slagging off the government one minute only to work with them weeks later.

He looks a lot like Caleb Roberts (playing Prince Charming) to me. Interesting costume choice there.

He actually makes some good points in his statement. Though it hasn't gone down well with others in the industry...

Howling here. He gives thanks for messages:
"including those who wanted to come and bring me cake in jail"
After daring to do a C-word joke on the Maria casting show, you can never be sure with ALW's faux innocent sense of humour. Or maybe he's been around Emerald's script too long.
They're all 'self cleaning jokes' as Wendy Richard said of 'Are You Being Served?', quoting the writers.

He actually makes some good points in his statement. Though it hasn't gone down well with others in the industry... Too right; I agree with everything that's been said. ALW has a superiority complex...He decided to just promote himself through the whole pandemic. I'm not surprised that people in the industry are frustrated. He's a LORD. AS IF, he would go to jail with all his billions.

Adam Lenson does some brilliant things, but is also in danger of having a coterie around him and often overplays his hand.

I don't think we need people in the Theatre industry slagging each other off. I'm afraid that I think AL without the W on the end comes across worse with comments like that imo.

It’s pretty narcissistic to compare a verbatim musical with a small cast that only played 5 performances to a full blown West End musical by a world famous composer and an Oscar winning writer.

I still think Boris made up the trial on the spot when he was asked in the press conference.
