Carrie says she's never seen a show that is so immersive.
And there are carts on tracks...with wheels that spin!
The Gillian Lynne looks gorgeous with its new seats.

Rehearsals begin this week! Hopefully a full cast announcement is imminent! Crikey...that's a bold move... Maybe they've decided to get the show rehearsed and tech-ed now so they're ready to open the minute restrictions are lifted? Newer shows normally do have lengthy rehearsal periods, so maybe this was always going to be the case (rehearsing a long time before opening)?

Newer shows normally do have lengthy rehearsal periods, so maybe this was always going to be the case (rehearsing a long time before opening)? Maybe. But it’s 11 weeks until May 17th...and it’s 10 weeks until they even announce if we can even move to stage 3! Rehearsing a show of this size for 11 weeks is an enormously expensive prospect at any time, but given that all the dates we have been given are subject to change it really feels like huge financial leap into the dark... Good on them though!

Tickets are on sale now from July 15th Awaiting the delay announcement now I guess. (edit: just seen daily mail article so looks like it’s definitely delayed again) Although maybe this show will be part of the government pilot scheme for live performances. ALW has been very much involved with trying to get theatres reopen, would make sense that it could be.

The rose window is very pretty. I presume that's part of the theatre rather than part of the set though? Carrie's turned up in camouflage.

I'm looking forward to this. It feels like the first, certainly new show, in a while that feels like it's going to be an epic production and experience.

I was just looking at the front section of stall seats and the note "You'll be moved in more ways than one". Does this mean the section of flooring moves underneath these seats to rotate them to each side or that the stage revolves? I'm intrigued.

Rehearsals begin this week! Hopefully a full cast announcement is imminent! Lauren Byrne has just heavily hinted that she's involved on Instagram. Hopefully we find out the full cast soon.

Hopefully we find out the full cast soon. www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-9310467/Andrew-Lloyd-Webber-starts-Cinderella-rehearsals-spending-1m-month-theatres-afloat.htmlThere's a mention of a Lydia, an Andy and a Will as well as Lauren, and a picture at the top if anybody can recognise anybody else? "Carrie Hope Fletcher, who plays the lead, has been waiting in the wings for nearly two years already. 'My first workshop for Cinderella was in May 2019!' she says. She, like the rest of the ensemble cast, has had a pretty rubbish lockdown, doing anything to fill the time as the goal posts have shifted once, twice, again. Lauren, 25, has been giving singing lessons on Zoom. Lydia has taught ballet. Andy, 38, has been shielding with his vulnerable partner and 'generally going mad'. Will has worked as a labourer to pay the rent."

It’s all a publicity stunt.
They are loading the set in now and then the theatre will sit empty for months until they can open.
The cast were just doing a sing through because.... what else are they gonna do?
If it gets theatres in the news it can only be a good thing I suppose. At least ALW is fighting for theatres, unlike some other of his wealth.... cough...

Another song was played from the show on the Elaine Paige Show on Sunday ‘I Know I Have a Heart,’ for me it is the best song in the show so far. It is about 1hr 40min in.
After a tough 18 months this and Back to the Future is something to look forward to.

She has said that the rehearsals started today but her first call isn’t until Wednesday. So it seems more than just a sing through publicity stunt.

😳 he’s said in other interviews they need to run at 80 percent capacity to break even so socially distant isn’t going to work but the attitude above sounds just irresponsible. It’s like to hell with the consequences as long as MY theatre can open! I’m desperate for theatres to open but this is not a good look Andrew!

He seems to forget that if we aren’t in a much better place with this virus by the time he wants to open, there won’t be an audience there to watch it. People need to feel safe.

I do understand where he's coming from. I think the interview needs to be watched in full to understand context. Though I do take people's points that he knows which lines will be taken and used as headlines so perhaps should be more careful in that regard.
Anyway, I think the point he is making is one of parity. Whether theatres are safe or dangerous, they are not MORE dangerous than pubs and restaurants, especially when you throw in the effects of alcohol on distancing and risk taking behaviour. In fact they are most likely safer. So if they are allowed to be open in the Summer then theatres should be too. And he is asking for fairness in that regard.
There were enough of us on here last Summer/Autumn who's hearts sank at the pics of the scenes in hospitality when theatres remained firmly shut. So I think it's great that he has been such an advocate.
Another important point is that if come July, levels of the virus are at a level that would deem his plans impossible from a health point of view (and to be fair he did say he would not open if that were the case) then we are in an incredibly difficult position. As if the roll out continues as is - then that would mean that for whatever reason the vaccine is not working at a population level. (All the studies so far thank God make this seem very unlikely).
And if that happens the choice is - continue with indefinite lockdowns or accept a much higher level of risk. Very much a personal and difficult choice that would no doubt divide people.

This exactly. If that happens come July we are well and truly stuck. I think it will come down to people making personal choices going into next winter as inevitably we will see cases increase again.

In fact they are most likely safer. Having seen clips from the socially distanced SIX performances at the Lyric last year, I would like to disagree. That was a madhouse. Always thinking of that when talking about civilised theatre audiences compared to other audiences, e.g. sports.

Just had an email from LW Theatres explaining that all existing bookings are being moved back. New dates will be confirmed via email with the chance to exchange or refund from that point as needed.

Just had the email saying new opening is 14/7 and booked tickets moved to an equivalent seat approx 2 months later. Not sure what happens if you were booked after the new opening night already, whether you still get moved? Looks like I’ll have a clash depending exactly how they work out the 2 months.
