I do understand ALW's frustrations but he's not blameless and I think slagging off the Government just because they didn't give you some dosh is very tone deaf.

Be interesting to see now if the cast members making a fuss climb down a bit. Seems unlikely though as they seem to be enjoying the victim narrative just a little too much. Well done to those who've kept a dignified silence at least.

Well it didn’t take long. A girl called Joy (gnatch) has weighed in on Rodders account to accuse his nay sayers/reality checkers of bullying and a couple of the comments have disappeared. I believe this is what existing in an echo chamber of praise is. Also Theatreboard got a name check so if he hasn’t heard of it before he knows now so not certain whether ‘Joy’ was trying to help or add to the draaaaammma Are we about to feel the wrath of Rod? Or now the show has ended, is it simply a case of Welease Woderwick and say no more? One person held captive by their own ego - maybe he believed the Belleville hype.

It’s fine to not like him. It’s fine to think his behavior is inappropriate. But this makes you absolutely NO better than him. A classless, unnecessary joke about whose intelligence you have no personal knowledge of. Be better than the people you criticize, or you’re just throwing stones from a glass house. Kept reading and saw just how many comments are like this. I agree, he’s ridiculous and rather vile. But what does the cruelty here accomplish? Likewise. What do you hope to achieve with your high handed moralising? It’s hardly cruelty. It’s attempting to make a mockery of the persona he is trying to create and the likely result of doing so. I said I don’t agree with him. I think his behavior is inappropriate. But there are PAGES of this thread devoted to attacking him. I don’t think it’s “high-handed moralizing” to suggest that maybe the seemingly endless criticism has gone a little too far. You’ve all made your point. (A point I agree with.) I just don’t know what is accomplished by continuing to make it over and over and over.

It's hardly cruel to question somebody's competence to do a less skilled job than the one they are trained to do, particularly when that person has publicly professed their own ineptness when it comes to reading 'the dots' in the right order. It's throwing shade back at the original thrower and entirely legitimate. You’ve made the point countless times. At a certain point, it seems cruel to me. I don’t disagree with you about him or his behavior. But when does the pile on end and the conversation move on?

I noticed one YouTube theatre vlogger rushing to upload last night in support of the cast, despite having slagged the show off from the get-go in several snarky videos.

He is a not particularly talented ensemble member (working in the service industry, similar to a barista or waiter), coming out of a failed production. He's getting loads of attention to feed what seems to be a massive ego. Yessss slay Queen!

His continued relentless online trashing of ALW (and indirectly the show that pays his wages) were kind of acceptable straight after the ‘telling off’, but he has just gone on & on, as if its the only thing he has going for him. Let’s hope not eh?

Victoria literally walks out with a head scarf on and continues to the tube station, she actually said on Instagram if you want a photo please come up and let me know or otherwise I’ll assume no one’s bothered. I saw the massive queue and was intrigued whether other cast members would walk along it or just assume everyone was there for Carrie. No offence to Carrie but If I was stage dooring I'd rather see Victoria! I'm not sure if it was the same at every show, but the que was totally for Carrie yesterday and other cast members would walk along the que and stop for anyone who wanted as well...but a lot of the time the majority ignored them with only the most die hard of fans stopping them. In saying that though, yesterday's audience appeared to be a large chunk of pretty obsessed Carrie fans. There were quite a few girls who looked they were cosplaying as her by having their hair the exact same way, wearing the same style glasses and also dresses from her clothing range - I found it a bit creepy tbh! They were also all desperate to have their photo taken with Joel...I know Carrie is probably used to this kind of thing, but I'd personally find it so creepy to have people so obsessed with me like that. The que was all for Carrie on Saturday night as well though, as I said I had to run after Victoria who just left the door and headed towards Holborn. She seemed surprised but also really pleased that I stopped her and also as I said previously was just so lovely.

He sashayed to the front of the stage right where I was sitting so I thought it was quite funny when he was yanked back into place. Who pulled him back? Give them a medal It was Matthieu Vinetot - I thought by the look on his face that he had probably been sick of him for a while and decided to let him have it on the last day, and who can blame him! In all seriousness though obviously if someone is not in their place it can mess up the whole routine for everyone else, it's such a selfish move.

The theatre industry these days (epitomised by ‘theatre twitter’) seems to be only 5% about the actual joy of theatre, whilst the remaining 95% is just people in a constant state of outrage or trauma over something of nothing, egged on by their fawning bubble who congratulate them or console them on their outrage. It’s exhausting!
I’m being flippant obviously, but it’s just gotten ridiculous, to the point where it seems so many of the younger performers in the industry have little or no respect for the people that pay their wages. Maybe they have all the power now so don’t care, idk, but the behaviour by people like Rodney Vubya is just embarrassing, and very narcissistic. Yes ALW could and should have chosen his words better, but he CLEARLY wasn’t saying that the cast was a costly mistake (even if he might think it about some of them ….) - but that doesn’t matter when someone sees a chance to play the victim! Who cares about nusance or accuracy ….

Let’s hope not eh? I don’t disagree with your reasons for disliking him. I’m just not sure what it accomplishes to sink to his level. I don’t mean it as moralizing even, because I do understand the desire to react as you have done. I just am kind of feeling like it’s not worth doing the same garbage he does and putting more of that energy out into the world 🤷🏻♂️

I have ASD out the wazoo and frequently misinterpret things and even I knew what he meant.

Some creativity for the Cinderella quick change at Broadway Backwards.
The way Connor directed it was the way we did it in the school panto 30 years ago.

I walked past 'The Gilly' as ALW might call it today during one of my breaks and seen them loading one of the large building set pieces into the van, it felt bizarre to see it on the street after seeing the show a few times!

Interestingly, according to Trigger, Dave studied classics and classical languages at uni, as well as Latin at a very posh school. So clearly not stupid, but even his LinkedIn profile has him wanging on about how highly skilled, driven and ambitious he is.

The thread has now linked to a show where it's the audience that get into fights with each other, rather than the cast and creatives. I know that doesn't narrow it down much as a clue (state of audiences these days). But I won't say goodbye, just 'bonjour'...
