I see your previous posts about BAME casting were taken down. Thank goodness. Perhaps the mods could keep a close eye on this particular poster and their blatant racism? Hear, hear! I was glad to see the mods jump on that racism so quickly.

I read the article at the very start of this thread which states that Prince Charming is gay and runs off with a Duke and that Cinderella falls for his "oddball" brother instead, Sebastian, who is this guy who's just been cast and has this song. Which is interesting to me because my initial instinct was it was going to be him that was LGBT.

I don't know if that's the story though, David Zippel said on this interview that the gay thing is not what people are expecting and ALW on the latest promo said it followed closely all the main points of the original plot but with a twist.

I'm really interested to see this and what the twists and changes are.

I presume the April/May opening will be put back AGAIN?
Surely they need to rehearse for 1/2 months before and that’s sadly not going to happen with a new covid strain.
Even if they vaccinate 1 mil a week by April or May that leaves 50 million without protection.
I’ve heard rumours of summer or September for shows to reopen now. (Coming from a friend IN a current closed show via producers today)
How sad.

Another song from the show on the Elaine Paige show about 45 minutes in. Very very Lloyd Webber with a slight nod here and there to Rodgers. As a singer, his odd vowel sounds are more of a distraction here. Shame as he has some good parts to his voice. I don't think his character is singing to Cinders in this song

Another song from the show on the Elaine Paige show about 45 minutes in. Wasn't this the one released a month ago? "Only You, Lonely You"

(Sadly) I think it's unlikely rather than impossible. ALW has said he is happy to open with capacity limitations and some social distancing in place (did he say 75% occupancy, can't remember?) Wouldn't need more than 2 months rehearsals/get in - so assuming they could rehearse from March, it could happen. But yes, given the state of things a further delay is more likely.

I read 75% too. The last audience restrictions for Tier 1 and Tier 2were 1,000 people or 50% whichever was smaller? The Gillian Lynne holds 1024. 75% wishful thinking? They’ve got their work cut out for them on the tiny entrance, small staircases and single escalator to get in too.

ALW is being overzealous. Come off it now.

My expectation for the show plummets with every song that’s released. This one is just so booorrrrriinnggg. Makes me glad that at least exciting new musical writing is happening in America.

Has there been any talk on whether the Cinderella character is gay?

Just looked online at seats available and the front section of the stalls has the note "Your ticket to the ball! In this seat you will be moved in more ways than one" - almost sounds like they're trying to replicate when Cats first opened at that theatre and have the revolving auditorium?

Interesting. Seats in that section have also jumped in price by about 25 quid since I got mine!

If it means a return to the good old days, when people dressed for the theatre, I'm all for it. 🙂

Yeah, some other ticket sites have the front stalls listed as revolving seats so I guess they must be being used in that capacity in some way.

Gosh, well this is an exciting development. At least it would be if it ever opens lol.
Not as exciting as putting Cats and John Napier's sets back in and having the revolving Overture. But exciting none the less.
