ALW really needs to stop making these threats, it's just boring at this point. First it was his theatres that were going to be sold off, now it's Cinderella although given one of the producers is Len Blavatnik, Cinderella isn't exactly fully British anyway.

And the guy has an absolutely astounding collection of lies, exaggerations and hyperbole he has amassed to his name over the years. No wonder the government aren't taking him seriously.

'Described as a complete reinvention of the classic fairytale'
Hardly. Soho Cinders did better to reinvent the story, than this did.

Why is every other producer getting on with opening their shows and not moaning about it every 2 minutes! Open, or don’t. Just shut the f up now ALW.
How much sympathy are we really supposed to have for a man with a multi million pound art collection.

Not getting the hostility towards ALW here. Unless I'm missing something, the previous shows that have opened were all re-openings, not a brand new work. His concerns that the UK rules and somewhat start/stop of things - forcing a show to shut down/quarantine because one person tested positive seems extreme. Particularly when we've seen other live events where there's no way near that kind of oversight (notably sports)
People tend to think "he's rich he can afford it" - which is really an unfair judgment.

I'm starting to think that Madeline Lloyd Webber needs to keep ALW away from any sort of journalist for the foreseeable future.... Not getting the hostility towards ALW here. It's the various threats and comments he's made which makes people roll their eyes, not the issues with shows shutting down due to self isolation or testing positive.

The rule that means one person testing positive forces a whole show to shut down ends tomorrow. That’s why Cinderella reopens this week. All this crap about selling off the show is just that… crap. People are sick of the crap he’s been spewing.

People are sick of the crap he’s been spewing. Really up to the cast if they and the crew and their families are happy to run the risks of not isolating. Bigger problem for the audience the odds of sharing air with the 1 in 75 of the population who have covid currently.
ALW seems not to get covid at all. If covid rates go up, even Boris may have to revoke the policy of asking irresponsible people to act responsibly. Equally a new variant could change the odds back to December levels Covid decides not HMG or ALW. He wants certainty and /or insurance but there's no way that can be offered to him, and not most of the economy.
And its notable that he's creating a problem for his self by just not delaying. If you look at whats going out on tour its often small shows with small casts or relatively small casts - the Mischief theatre empire, Six, Dial M for Murder which are probably viable on distanced audiences or a show with low costs because its cast may be a bit bigger but its toured recently and has lower set up costs to cover. . If you have a new show you may as well either start at a loss and hope, or just wait until things are clearer when booster shots are done and the school children are no longer a reservoir of infection.
He would do better to tell Johnson to stop dithering on vaccination which is currently going at a snails pace.

"Sold off to an American investor" i.e. 'made available for production at someone elses's financial risk'. This sounds like a win all round.
Meanwhile, (and far too late) I must blame Emerald Fennel's double intendres for my eyebrow raising at this old statement from ALW: "I have been forced to make the heart-breaking decision not to open my Cinderella"

So is that why the big queue outside the Gillian Lynne Theatre, they’re all American investors to buy Cinderella or Chinese investors desperate to buy the actual physical building..
Anyway tell the American investors to skip the show, they might just change their minds.

Does that make us famous or infamous? I'm going to say neither. Daddy Shenton is hardly a hold hold name.
