Agree with Dr Tom - Ben Joyce is phenomenal. There's a sprightly youthfulness to his portrayal of Marty and pitch perfect voice. His energy and precision are a much needed injection of vitality to the role. (Not to decry Olly Dobson or Will Haswell, both of whom are also fantastic in the role.) This new cast (well, some new, some from the original cast) is fantastic. I've seen this show quite a few times in the last year and this evening's cast smashed it. This show is in fine fettle and deserves to run for a good while longer. Go see it, even if you've seen it before! I was in tonight too, having not been in the best of moods going in due to a stressful week I did come out feeling a lot better and pleased I saw this again. It seems a few things have been added and removed since my last visit but don’t know the show well enough to work out exactly which bits! I can’t remember the Doc mumbling lines in the past as if he was mocking lines being forgotten! But it was very funny!

Just got out of seeing this for the first time with a rush ticket through TodayTix and had a really great time. I thought the songs were good but a bit forgettable. But the performances and stage effects were amazing! I think if you’re a fan of the film then this is a must see.
There were moments particularly in Act 1 where I was struggling to make out a lot of the lyrics and even some dialogue. But it seemed to improve as the show went on. I would say Act 2 was a lot stronger than the first. And the ending was just brilliant with a man a few rows ahead fist pumping the air he was so excited.

Does Will Haswell have a schedule or weekly show when he goes on as Marty?
Thanks in advance

Epic move from Ben Joyce tonight as he stacked it off the bandstand at the start of Johnny B Goode, forward rolled down the steps, somehow managed to protect himself and the guitar, and complete the scene with high energy and panache. An absolute pro. I would have cried. I think he might feel a bit sore in the morning, but his selflessness in not missing a beat despite it looking really painful was one of those moments where you feel privileged to see a performer make sure that the show goes on. I've seen curtains come down for much less. Take a bow Ben - you deserve it.

Could any regular BTTF theatregoers help me? I'm planning to book my parents to go and see this (in their seventies!) as they have shown an interest. They will travel down from the Highlands in December to see a few other shows, and I'm aiming for a Monday evening performance. I saw on the thread above that Will Haswell usually does Monday evenings (no bad thing as I think he is superb as Marty), but are there any other understudies that typically cover Mondays? I'd prefer my parents to see Roger Bart as Doc, as his performance really is excellent. Any advice appreciated before I go ahead and book. Many thanks.

I’m not 100% certain but I’m pretty sure Roger Bart does all 8 shows generally. Hopefully someone else on here can give absolute confirmation.

Have you booked in advance, ceebee. Roger Bart is taking a six week break from late November until the new year. Cory English is to play Doc Brown from 23 November to 3 January.

Nice to see this seems to be doing good box office and last week broke box office records at the Adelphi for the highest gross sales in one week.

Was taking a break from seeing it for awhile after 4 visits since last year - but now there’s a new Doc I’m tempted to go back!
I enjoy Roger Bart’s Doc but after 4 times his choices do get a bit tiring. It is funny to see his different line reads and trying to get the cast to crack, but it also takes away from a lot of the more heartfelt moments in the show when Doc’s at his lowest. A lot of the time it feels like he’s not playing Doc, it’s more Roger entertaining himself in costume as Doc.
I’m looking forward to seeing what another actor does, and if they’ll manage to humanise the character more

Saw Cory English as Doc in his first performance last night and he’s just as good if not better than Roger Bart.

I saw on Twitter that Ben said he has COVID that’s not COVID. So it’s likely to be a flu.
Does anyone know how long he’s been out?

I was thinking…Cory is likely either going to take over on the West end or be roger’s standby on Broadway. Doubt he’d agree to do the show for 6 weeks and that’s it…

Does anybody with good knowledge of BTTF know what pairing of Marty/Doc my parents are likely to see on Monday? I'm not sure if there is a specific pattern for covers. Thanks for any guidance!

Pretty sure Will goes on for Marty on Mondays, but he is in Rome right now so if he’s not back then it will be 2nd cover. I would expect Cory to be on for Doc.
