Just seen this email. Rather diaappointed it only goes to Dublin though. Didn’t it go somewhere further afield last year?
The line up certainly seems much better.

Shame it isn't going further afield, not saying Dublin is bad, but it would be great if they could sustain a 7 day cruise somewhere hot! I suppose it will eventually grow bigger, wish them luck with it!

I went last year. Had an awesome time. So far I’m disappointed with the announcements yesterday...I hope I’m wrong. Also hope they have some more up their sleeves...could do with Cassidy Janson onboard....she just about has time in between & Juliet Manchester and London!

I've been feeling like a solo break for a while and this sounded great because i'd be able to find plenty of like minded people ect but if you go solo the cheapest cabin is over £1,000! For a few days at sea, some concerts and a day in dublin, no ta!

Agree. And having spent some time in a premier inn hub room with no window or natural light the idea of an internal cabin doesn’t appeal
It begs the question as to how a cruise company can organise this sort of line up at sea, but apparently no one can do it onshore. I suppose it comes down to the economics. People will pay silly money to go on a cruise liner that they won’t pay to see this stuff on dry land.

In May 2020, Cunard is getting in on the act with it's 7 night London Theatre at Sea cruise on-board Queen Mary 2. That's an 'official' one, in association with SOLT and the Olivier Awards. And what about all those cold Yorkshire winters you've spent hibernating at the back of a cave, BurlyBeaR? Manchester has really changed you! 🙂

I would really enjoy this if it wasnt for the fact I get very sea sick. Think it would be great fun being on a ship full of MT fans. On second thoughts it could end up being full of bitchy old queens and you cant get off the ship.

I would be seriously concerned if they did anything from Titanic the musical, especially if it was billed as an immersive experience.

And all this while you chuck up your buffet dinner on that very choppy Irish Sea. Many years ago, a colleague mentioned they were going to Ireland for a long weekend. I innocently asked if he was going on the ferry, and he visibly paled and looked haunted. He related one of the most traumatising travel stories I've ever heard, involving a ferry crossing to Ireland. Like me, he himself was a perfectly okay sailor but the story (which I won't go into detail on here) was about the horror he witnessed around him, the no-go zones the toilets had become, and what he saw happen to someone when, having decided to just grimly cling to a railing on deck, he witnessed this person step out on to the deck just as the ferry lurched massively to one side in the swell. The image he painted of this person's journey from one end of the deck to the other - first on his back, then on his front - is tattooed on my brain. The colleague assured me it was flights all the way since then, so no, he wouldn't be on the ferry. Superimposing that on to the idea of this 'festival' with its acts and buffet is both ghastly and potentially very funny.

“Sit Down You’re Rocking The Boat” Do you think the acts will be fighting among each other to see who gets to do Sailing? (The audience sing along: "We are puking, we are puking....")

Just got an email inviting me to purchase pre booking for the Stages 2020 event for £25.
No guarantees of a booking, no refund if you don’t book.
Rip off much?

That’s a big old ship and jump up from the ship they have been using!

Where do the 'stars' stay on this cruise? Do they get some kind of area away from the fans to hang out? It's my understanding on a regular cruise ship it's fairly easy to get to all parts of the ship except the crew areas which I imagine aren't very glamorous.

A friend has seen the 2020 lineup on Twitter - John Barrowman, Lea Salonga, Ramin Karimloo. An Evening With Bonnie Langford. John Owen Jones. Marisha Wallace.

Oo, I'd be tempted with that line up too! I did the one last year but found the line up this year a bit underwhelming so gave it a miss.

Says it'll be announced and on sale on 18.10.19. The list is from a photo taken onboard ship (I've retweeted if you're looking for it) @stagefaves.
The Barrowman fans I've come across are pretty happy (although I swear that #Fabulous thing is annoying). But Ramin & John Owen Jones!

I wish they would do Stages at Butlins as I get sea sick. I'd pay to be there to watch the usual clientele mix with the musical theatre types. Butlins in Minehead used to do a Country Music weekend every March that I used to go to and there were always some people who had just booked a Butlins weekend away without checking the events calendar. Watching their horror as they realised that all the entertainment for the weekend was country artists they’d never heard of and all the usual activities had been replaced by line dancing classes was always very amusing!!

Thought Dublin was a bit of a lame choice for this year With imagination, they could have rounded off with a live "immersive" version of "Once" in the street where it is set. I wish they would do Stages at Butlins as I get sea sick. I'd pay to be there to watch the usual clientele mix with the musical theatre types. They’d never fork out for that. Far too imaginative 😂

Sailing to Bruges next year. I’m just back from this year’s and have had an amazing time. Highly recommend. Great amount of stuff onboard from Stephen Schwartz to Rogers & Hammerstein and Sondheim...something for everyone. Alice Fearn listening to Rachel Tucker and vice versa...I’m campaigning for an Elphaba sing off next year with those two, Cassidy and Kerry Ellis!

Had an email flogging next years so I went for a look. I do like the line up but there is no way I want to be confined to a cabin that size with another person, no matter who it is, and as there’s no single occupancy discount you effectively pay double. Then there’s the compulsory £13 a day gratuity charge, some other tax of £50 and then a drinks package costing £165 thank you very much. And then you need a hotel in Southampton the night before. Tot that lot up and it’s £1500 for a three night trip. I should cocoa!

Yes It does seem a bit(a lot) steep for a brief cruise. Admittedly you are getting the show element but even accounting for that with the extras etc you are looking at a tidy sum for the 3 nights.
