There’s already advertising out on the sides of buses with the Olivier results. Considering how well this is selling, I’m surprised that’s needed, but maybe it’s the end of the cheap ticket prices.

By any chance is there a way I can discover who performed in which roles at the April 9th matinee? I didn’t buy a programme or snap a cast list pic in the foyer! Try West End Covers on Twitter. More than once I've gone back a few days to find names I missed out on. |

I still think they'll keep their current pricing but I wouldn't be surprised if they make Thursday the same price as Fridays and Saturdays, I'm surprised they managed to get the Best New Musical on buses so quickly, I'd understand digital ads but not bus ads. |

Assuming a cast change is on the horizon, I'd love to see the current cast one last time. I was hoping they'd announce the change quite far in advance but it's not looking like that now if that mid-May date is anything to go by! Not sure how likely a return visit will be at short notice with the ticket prices being what they are and the lottery so difficult to win these days. Last night's triumphs at the Oliviers will probably up the demand for tickets too - no bad thing.
Seconding this but having received yet another "Sorry not this time" email today it's not looking likely. I won the lottery at my very first time of trying last May & no luck since. I don't know how some people have managed to see it so many times without bankrupting themselves, unless they manage to go every Monday.

I wonder how much of a boost the Olivier win will be to sales and whether they might consider a move to a slightly bigger (and hopefully more comfortable!) theatre?

Although it's not comfy and the toilets are HORRENDOUS - the theatre stage really suits the story I think.

The toilet I went in (think it was a unisex loo up from the dress circle bar) was truly like spending a penny in an old Victorian house rather than a theatre. Charming in its own way but very much unfit for purpose if a queue were to form! |

Their understudies occasionally end up on the West End Covers account but often don't, so I wouldn't take the absence of a mention as a guarantee After a little detective work and trying to recognise faces on the show website, I think I had all of the principal cast with the exception of Holly Sumpton who I'm pretty sure was my Ewan Montagu (and excellent!). Definitely don't recognise Natasha Hodgson from my performance. |

What a privilege to be at the first Mincemeat show since the Olivier award win. The Fortune was full of the musical’s most loyal fans - Mincefluencers, if you will - and most of them came in cosplay (not me, reader; I’m saving my Spilsbury get-up for Halloween…).
An electric atmosphere throughout, buoyed by the addition of not one, not two but THREE covers performing (there were understandably a fair few hangovers among the principal cast, by all accounts!). The beauty of this show is how every single understudy brings something different and fresh to the roles. You literally never feel like you’re being short-changed, such is the immense talent and comedic ability among this special, special company.
I think we all knew it was coming but a highlight was Holly delivering the line “at least it’s not an *Olivier award* winning musical!”. But if I’m honest, the line is could not be heard after “Oliv-“ such was the boisterous ovation filling the auditorium.
It was also my first time seeing Geri on as Bevan/Haselden. Not only was she incredible but that means I have now seen every first cover on for every track. So I can speak with authority when I say they are ALL phenomenal performers. Mincemeat bingo, (sort of) completed.
My next trip is likely to be cast change night, which I’m sure will be emotional for everyone. I don’t know if the understudies will stay or leave too, but this is your warning to see this Olivier award winning show’s OG cast if you possibly can before they go. What a night.

That's great to hear the covers are all so good they're worth collecting (Got to get 'em all). When I went back a second time I was pleased to get the original SpitLip three again having seen them 10 years ago in Fringe Theatre and spotted that they were a brilliant team deserving of great success ('The Boy Who Kicked Pigs' at Jackson's Lane London). My seat the first time wasn't the best, so I wanted to catch them again rather than covers. However, for Hester I saw Jak the first time (Great), and Christian the second time (Brilliant), so I can see that proved your point. |

No, I wouldn't fancy standing. (I once tried standing at the Globe & keeled over. Admittedly it was 30 degrees but it's put me off standing.) Also as I don't live in London while I could get down at a few hours' notice I'd prefer not to have to do so. |

It's taken me months, but I've finally realised - 'Born to Lead' sounds just like 'When You're a Pirate!' from Muppets Treasure Island. 'We were made to give the orders...for some were made to followwww' sounds just like, 'when you're a professional piratttteeeeeeee' As a big fan of both, this is a delightful realisation. There are more similarities beyond just how they sound too; both songs about careers with lines about fortunes - 'We're gentlemen of fortune and that's what we're proud to be' / 'For fortune favours bravery and a fortune's what I've got', with a similar sense of humour, e.g. in the delivery of the lines 'When you're a professional pirate... you don't have to wear a suit' / 'For some were born to follow... but I was born to find trout.' The cherry on the cake for me was Googling the Mincemeat song to check the lyrics and discovering the top result incorrectly has the opening line as 'So you dreamt of being a pirate,' instead of pilot! Editing to also add the similarity between, 'I could have been a lawyer but I just had too much heart' / 'You dreamt of being a pilot but never got to fly.' |
