Sorry - it was my attempt at humour and an extra hint to the codeword (your previous post snuck in whilst I was typing mine) I actually think it's a fun thing to do given the subject of the show.

Ah, caught this in this afternoon's matinee - it's just glorious, and they've sorted out the ending since I last saw it at the Southwark. And the glitzy finale is just amazing!
I'm just so, so ecstatic that the 'three songs and a plot outline' I saw in the Lowry Studio 5 or 6 years ago has come this far - and that the original cast are still in it!

Although I see that they have been giving alternates their first performances over the last week - after being involved with Mincemeat for so long, and while they still give the impression of absolutely loving it, I'm sure some of them are starting to think about their next projects...

I saw this today. It’s far too long. Needs to be a 1 hour 30 one act. Also all the dynamic staging is in the last 10 minutes. I felt it didn’t really know what musical style it was. A fun but needs more work 3 stars from me. I was a bit bored at times sorry!

I was in too yesterday afternoon, bringing a friend who hadn't yet seen it, who's now a total convert! Didn't think it could get any better but it has! A shiny new set & totally agreed about that glitzy finale! The heart & emotion were still there along with all the comedy & talent of the cast/creatives. Loved the new Act 1 finale scene/song too. Had a lovely time singing new UK musical theatre's praises with fellow audience members (Jon & Simon) before/after the show too.

It will be interesting to see how long into the main run the OG cast give it before starting to have scheduled performances off.
It sounds like the understudies have done a fab job in previews though.

After being almost sold out every performance so far (I think), it's interesting to see that now that the increased ticket prices have taken effect this week, this evening's performance looks to only be at about 50% capacity at the moment, with the upper circle almost completely unsold.
Hopefully now this will give them the kick needed to re-think the pricing structure.

Hopefully now this will give them the kick needed to re-think the pricing structure. I was just coming here to make the same comment! Totally agree, the higher prices are obviously putting people off. I think there's a few reasons for that: The main audience/fanbase for this seems to be primarily younger people who won't want to/be able to shell out £40+ for a ticket (and that's just the weeknight shows!). A lot of people seem to be making repeat visits (especially during previews but I imagine it will be the same once it opens) but who can afford to see the show multiple times with these prices? Also, the word of mouth for the show is great, but would someone be willing to pay £40/£60/even £80 based on a recommendation from a friend, when they're not familiar with the cast, story or brand? I doubt it. And the ridiculously high weekend pricing shuts out people living outside London who wouldn't be able to attend a weekday show. ATG are really shooting themselves in the foot with the pricing and I hope they realise this soon as the show deserves a really successful WE run! (rant over) (edit to add: It's also quite sad to see the show become inaccessible to many because of ticket prices when it started life as an affordable fringe show. I know they've tried to mitigate this with the lottery - based on a tweet from Natasha Hodgson I think the creatives might have pushed hard for this more affordable option - but it doesn't quite make it accessible to a wider audience in the same way. I understand theatre is a business etc etc but I think they really should employ pricing brackets to ensure cheaper seats are available.)

I just knew Avalon as a TV production company but looking at their website I see they have live shows as well. However, apart from Operation Mincemeat and the Spitting Image musical it seems to be all live comedy acts. Are they potentially employing the blanket pricing because it's what they use for their other shows, which are mostly comedy gigs where you might expect one ticket price? (Someone correct me if I'm wrong!)

While I think the one pricing for all seats doesn't work, I do think you'd need more expensive seats to balance the cheaper seats, I'd go for a £40, 60 and £80 for Upper, Dress and Stalls which for a small venue like the Fortune would allow the show to have an extended run.

It must be disheartening for the cast too to have had 4 weeks of performing to pretty much full houses, to now playing to an empty Upper Circle and several empty seats on the other levels.
I really hope the pricing structure is reconsidered as the show deserves a successful West End run. Having pricing brackets would surely mean better business than currently having a lot of high price seats left empty.

As a younger (30 something) person who wants to go and see this, you've hit the nail on the head. I've found a friend who is interested in coming with me, but not for £40+. so I'm keeping all my fingers crossed I win the lottery.

It has been roughly a year ago since I last watched it at the Riverside Studios when I rated it as a 5⭐️ show, so I took the opportunity to revisit the show at its new home in the WE tonight. I have to say though it was strange walking up to the Fortune theatre and seeing a different show playing there rather than “The Woman in Black”. Based on my viewing tonight, I still think it is an absolutely brilliant 5⭐️show on a repeat viewing and the upgrade in the set takes the show to another level and fits in very nicely in its new home.
Having booked for this only a few days ago, there wasn’t much choice in available seating in the stalls but ended up in K12 by the sound desk. With the note on the ticket of “limited view”, I really can’t fault the view for this show. With only the very top of the set cut off, it really didn’t have any impacts on my viewing experience and I would happily sit there again for any future viewings.
As for the fantastic cast of 5, we had the full main cast on tonight and they kept us laughing for the entire 2.hrs. There really is a great blend of both verbal and physical humour on show and the nice mix of musical styles for the scores works well within the show. The songs themselves I think are really well written and I’m certainly downloading the OCR when it becomes available Certainly around where I was sitting there were plenty of folk seeing this for the first time (both local and from the US who where near me) and from what I could hear, all gave glowing reviews both during the interval and at the end. The creative team really have created something wonderful with this show and its WE transfer is thoroughly deserved.
