Madonna has announced a London residency at the Palladium for 2020 as part of her Madame X Theatre Tour.
I’m already dreading the prices (up to $2000 in the US) and you have to sign up for tickets, which are allocated on a lottery basis. A second lottery of $10 seats for the US dates will be made available, so I expect the same in London once the details are fully announced.
You just know she called the Lord and asked for a discount though.

Beat me too it!
My bank balance is ready, but the lack of tickets will make this a nightmare.

Yes it will be a costly night if you manage to get a ticket as the demand will be huge I imagine.

It will be a scramble for sure but worth having a go. I wonder if the ticket arrangements will be the same as for the US? The presale looks like a genuine lottery.

In the T&Cs it says u can easily transfer ur tickets to friends or family by logging in and changing the name on the ticket after u have bought these meaning she hasn’t done THAT much to stop touting

I don't care how much they are - I just want tickets!!! I've seen Madonna on every UK tour thus far so don't want this to be the one that ruins my record.

Lovely. Two tickets for me and Miss LuPone please. In a box. We need somewhere to store the rotten fruit.

Interesting to consider if this is a precursor to a full arena tour later in 2020. And if not, if she’s finished with that sort of gruelling schedule, is this a taster for a possible year long residency in Vegas?

I can't say I'm excited because I don't like Madonna, she is easily the most unlikable woman in music for me, but I've followed her touring career because I know she can put on a decent show and I'm intrigued by the choices with this tour!

Just as long as she doesn't pull out a guitar and try to convince us that she's a "serious musician" we should be OK. I want her to resurrect Blond Ambition Madge complete with conical bras and writhing around on a bed to a Middle Eastern version of 'Like A Virgin'.

Oh my, I didn't see that one. That sounds tres hilair! She should definitely do that. It'll be 'Knights of the Rose' all over again!

Just watched the You Tube clip. Words really do fail me here after watching. I wonder if Stephen Sondheim has seen it?

It's pretty much a one woman show in that costume 😂 she whips out the guitar which as you can imagine will thrill @ryan. 😂😂

How unique to see this pop legend in an acoustic setting! Think the play 'Up for grabs' was the only other time she appeared in a West End theatre.

Loved the acoustic versions of the songs and her exit on the tricycle. I really was hoping she would fall off (prob a bit mean on my part). The guy who paid £10k for that chair 😮. I just hope he gave it a good clean before using it!

The Clown show started originally as a free show for her Australian fans, singing songs she wasn’t performing there on tour (she has only been to Australia on tour twice in almost 40 years). Then she did a charity version in Miami at a gala she held for her charity. She has spoken about doing small shows for years now. It looks as if she’s doing 8 cities at roughly 1 month each. She’s spoken about attending house parties/bars in Portugal where people just sit around and play fado music - her instagram has videos of such evenings and I really think that’s the direction this show will go in: http://instagram.com/p/BuoqYFdBfUE She’s spoken about her her shows follow the same rules - usually 4 acts with 4 or 5 songs with big costume changes and production values. I believe she intends to scrap that and really mix it up. Also, Madonna is a huge Kate Bush fan and attended Kate Bush’s Before The Dawn show. More than anything, that’s what I believe has inspired this theatre tour more than anything.

As much as I love Madonna I'll probably give this a miss this time, unless the prices are reasonable which they probably won't.
I've seen Madonna live three times, her shows are such great fun and she's such a brilliant dancer that you forgive her for miming 90% of her vocals, which is fine because she can't sing really, and the few bits she does live they are usually painfully off key.
I don't think she can dance much anymore which is a pity so I'm not prepared to pay an astronomical amount for a ticket, but I'll make my decision when I see the ticket prices.

This was just a one off thing in Miami; not one of her tours. It is horrific. Not unlike ‘Up For Grabs’ which unsurprisingly was horrific also. It’s a shame that the reputation of her live shows is based on her fantastic ‘Who’s That Girl’ and ‘Blond Ambition’ tours rather than the diminishing quality of her subsequent shows. The MDNA one almost recaptured the excitement but I think that was more to do with being squished into an arena at 10.30pm with the air con switched off than what was going on onstage.

I'm hoping that the theatre setting will help her relax a bit. When we saw MDNA at Murrayfield we were treated to a rehearsal and soundcheck of pretty much the entire show as the stadium filled up, where she chatted with the crowd, went through most of the songs and generally looked like she was having fun. It was a very special thing to be part of. Capturing that more relaxed atmosphere would be a treat in itself! I remember Kylie's Anti Tour: a small venue, no costume changes, just Kylie, her band and tonnes of fun. I have loved all the huge productions Madonna has put on but I am looking forward to (hopefully) seeing her try something different.
