Has anyone tried day seating for this yet? If so, what was the experience like? I know Rush tickets are available but the seats offered aren’t very inspiring. I got my ticket in the TodayTix Rush today - middle of row B in the circle, pretty much a perfect seat - so there are good seat allocations in there if you’re lucky! (Of course, it being a midweek matinee may have helped) |

Nipped to see this last night to kick off Stephen Schwartz week (he is in London).
I got the extreme end of Row H with TodayTix Rush, which has an excellent view and decent rake. I would still prefer to be slightly closer and more central, but the theatre seems to prefer to leave those seats empty (and have people crammed into the extreme Stall ends) rather than ever discount the central seats. Lots of people did end up moving across so I had a spare seat next to me (and the aisle on the other side), which would normally make it comfortable if I hadn't had to put up with the man in the seat behind keeping kicking the seat back.
One cover was on, Scott Maurice as Hotep. He did a good job, although it's always hard to replicate the unique presence of Adam Pearce.
Having now seen this three times, I'm still not sure if this is a great show or not. There are a lot of elements that hit the mark and it is performed well, but it's just a few minutes too long. Credit to the young child near me for behaving though, even during the boring bits and not responding to the suggestion by their parent that they should sing along during When You Believe.

Does anyone know if this is planning to extend beyond January 2022? It’s very hard theatre to fill, and I doubt that the Nederlander organization would kick out the show if nothing else was in the pipeline. They’d rather have some revenue than no revenue I would think? But who knows… |

Went to see this last evening with low expectations, but ended up being surprised! I'm a big fan of the animation and the known numbers did not disappoint. All performances are solid, the ensemble shone and the choreography felt fresh and resourceful. Ramses was being played by the understudy Felipe Bejarano, who was really comfortable in the role. There are problems, of course, like it was hard to follow Moses character arch: there are essential parts to the narrative that feel very rushed (especially the end of act I), but I'm glad they gave more time at Meridia for his transition; giving more voice to women in the play was well-intentioned but only worked to a point. I could also feel that most of the additional songs were...not great, with boring lyrics or dragging on the first half of the show. We are going to London at the end of October for a week. I’ve already booked quite a few shows but am reluctant to commit to this just yet. I have seen an offer on Facebook for 2 for 1 tickets, but only in September. I think I’ll bide my time and see if they do any other offers nearer to the dates we will be there as I’m not prepared to pay too much owing to the mixed reviews.

Saw it two weeks ago...finally, after waiting since March 2020. Love the original film score and enjoyed the show, not perfect, but visually stunning and entertaining. Loved the socially distanced seating and don't understand, why people call it a 'barn', found it a lovely theatre. 8/10

Saw this a few weeks back.
Positives: The performances are very strong. Luke Brady as Moses and Liam Tamne as Ramses both very good. Thought the actress playing Tzipporah had an excellent voice, but I didn't warm to her portrayal of the character. Alexia Khadima as Miriam was more sympathetic. Really liked Debbie Kurup as the Queen and Tanisha Spring as Nefertari. It is gorgeous to look at, there are some stunning dance sequences, special effects and it is quite moving in parts (treatment of the enslaved people, and the plague scene for e.g.)
Negatives: It is far too long and it felt like an endurance at times. The score is not strong enough to sustain the piece overall and aside from a handful of exceptions (Deliver Us, Faster, When You Believe), the score is bland, samey and largely forgettable. More time/money/energy should have been invested in the songwriting to match the "spectacle" as it really does let it down. I felt there was a sigh of relief from the audience when "When you Believe" appeared, not just because it was familiar but because it was a break from the banality of most of what went before it. I could see/hear children nearby becoming restless in the second half for sure. It could have been a really great show but instead it is just ok, bar a few highlights.
No social distancing when I attended and poor enough mask compliance, though that was the same with the other shows I saw that weekend.

From one barn to another... Be interested to see what name they put in as Edna as it's a big venue to fill...
Also, sorry but I won't be sad to see Prince of Egypt close. To me, it never really knew what it wanted to be, or what it did want to be didn't work

Was there yesterday for the third time. I enjoy it more with each viewing and the new songs have certainly grown on me. Sounds sublime, really wonderful singing.
Surprised there hasn’t been a closing announcement considering tickets are only on sale up to January. And no news yet of Hairspray moving in.
