Lady plumber who used to live in my apartment building “April’s Showers”.
She wasn’t called April and she wasn’t a very good plumber either. She knew how to charge though 😡

At a slight tangent but in the same spirit - from today's Sunday Times: 'Grit Rhys Jones, Spred Sheeran and Sir Melton John are among the gritters that will take to the Suffolk roads this winter after a naming competition. Suffolk Highways asked people to suggest monikers for its 41 gritting lorries and received 500 entries.' In Doncaster you will find gritters named "Gritsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Anti-Slip Machiney" and "David Plowie".

The part I love in these stories is the part that goes: "It's just a coincidence. My name is Singh, and I went to Bury once. Well, Rochdale. OK, Huddersfield. But it never even occurred to me it was similar to Sainsbury's."

Dog-grooming 'salons' seem particularly prone to silly names. Near where I live in Glasgow are Pawcasso and Glamour Paws. The latter is particularly irritating, because the name is clearly a play on "glamour puss", and a puss is a cat, not a dog. There is a dog groomers near Glasgow called Captain Dugwash. Cracks me up every time I see it.
