That’s a big venue, I’m a little surprised! But with his DEH fame I’m sure it’ll sell well or sell-out. I’m personally not a fan of Ben’s voice (his vibrato is so OTT for me) but he’s a talented guy and deserves all his success 👍

I dont think that venue suits a solo performer unless it's some big stage show. Would have suited a theatre much more.

An interesting choice of venue for sure. I remember seeing Matthew Morrison there at the height of his Glee popularity and the venue was just far too big.

Echo everything above. Is this not a little ambitious? He's not really a name over here is he? I certainly won't go there, but I might have considered say, Cadogan Hall

I certainly won't go there, but I might have considered say, Cadogan Hall Yeah Cadogan Hall seems to be the go to for Broadway stars and I’d have thought he woulda gone there. His US tour has apparently sold really well (albeit he’s much more of a name there) so I guess that may have influenced the decision. I think his fans here might be disappointed though if he concentrates on singing songs from his new album, because you know people won’t really be there for that!

The album is great though, so I’m sure enough people who have heard stuff on radio 2 will be interested. It isn’t just MT fans that he’s appealling to. I just hope he has singers with him that can recreate what are possibly the most swoonsome BV’s I’ve ever heard. If we get some DEH songs and interesting covers I think it’ll be a terrific night. I already bagged our row G seats in the O2 presale this morning.

I liked his voice on the DEH recording but I just cannot listen to his album - the vibrato gives me a headache. I’m surprised he’s not been coached to tone it down.

I really dislike his vibrato also, it’s kinda like nails on a blackboard for me! It also feels like it’s a choice, idk. He’s v talented but just not my cup of tea as a singer.

Was that all off the back of DEH? Surely not. His vibrato did bother me, but I’m sold on the songs now so it won’t do as much now.

Just booked tickets and doesn’t look to be many left at the moment! No stress (unlike actual London DEH!) but really excited to see him live!

A lot of the good seats available at 9 are still available now so yeah It’s definitely not a DEH ticket scramble, although seems to have sold fairly well so far. Tickets are expensive though which might put some people off. Also £327.50 for a VIP ticket is EXTORTIONATE 😐

Love that it has sold that well. It’s certainly one in the eye to the neysayers. It is my absolute favourite large venue to see people in and I’ve no idea why people are being so negative about it. It has a great bar and is a five minute walk to the only central London ‘hostel’ style hotel I’ll stay in.

I mean there are still a lot of tickets available, but I’m sure by showtime it’ll be v well sold or sold out. I wasn’t being negative, but I just didn’t know whether Ben Platt was a big enough name over here compared to the US to fill such a large venue. Well I guess I was being negative about his vibrato too 😄 but even though I don’t like it I am happy to acknowledge that he’s v talented, lol!

I obviously have a masochistic streak as I seem to enjoy things that the average board member does not? Everything is all ‘inclusion’ ‘equality’ etc but as soon as someone enjoys something off of the Board mafia’s approved list the digs and bitching start. I shall just sit in my corner rocking (with BP on in the background obvs).

I haven’t listened to his album either, but I did see DEH with him in it on broadway and he was superb in that role! I’m sure the concert will be great 👍

What I meant was that in the grand scheme of things, he's mostly well known in theatre circles in the US, and to a far smaller theatre audience in the UK. Of the people who know him, even a smaller fraction listened to his album. I was not making a jab at his album, him or your preference.

Yes, I still find his vibrato too much but I'm currently goint through a very recent break up that has left my pretty heartbroken. One of Ben's songs came on on my Spotify and it's led me to listening to his album again and I've found it really comforting.

He was very good tonight. Great vocals, stories that informed the writing of the album etc. Good band too, but it was a little rehearsed & disingenuous at times. Still my favourite venue, and gobsmacking that it’s the only date outside of the US.

Still my favourite venue, and gobsmacking that it’s the only date outside of the US. His tour has sold amazingly well. I was dubious when he announced it how he’d sell out the larger venues but he seems to have managed it. Show’s how much of a phenomenon DEH has been .... I know this is Ben’s personal album and he doesn’t sing any DEH songs, but his popularity has come from being in that show.
