Bit in tonight's Evening Standard about it too. I saw her in Closer to Heaven all those years ago. She was fab. This is going to be one very camp show.

I'm SO excited for this but I'll be out of the country and unable to pop up to Edinburgh for it. They simply MUST bring it to London.
I was obsessed with Frances' performance in CTH and with the show generally. It was as wonderful as it was camp.

I would hope one is the amazing "Friendly Fires" I remember she performed it on Radio 2 many years after Closer To Heaven closed, so someone somewhere is aware of its importance. I'm fairly confident it will be included.

I always hoped that Elaine Paige would record Friendly Fire - how fabulous would that be!?!?

I’m sure we’re overdue a revival of Closer to Heaven in London. It’d be fantastic at the Charing Cross, where it literally would be... as the title suggests.

Yes. It was at the old Union Theatre. Had a really good cast of recent graduates and worked really well there. Miss the old venue a lot. It may have been damp and smelly but shows like closer fitted in there really well.

Unfortunately the show needed mic'ing at the Union. Couldn't hear any of the lyrics over the music.

I was very disappointed with the Union version especially after seeing the original at the Arts theatre.
