I saw this friday and liked it. Set is very cheap but I didn't really mind except for the door in the first scene which was slammed quite hard so it was wobbling around for a good 15 seconds which looked very odd. I am not sure a man in general works for me in the role of Hannigan. It felt at times like I was looking at a drag (which you are), rather than a miserable alcoholic woman. Sometimes Craig was amazing (easy street for example) but sometimes he lost his accent and his appearance and therefore his Hannigan didn't always convince. I am not sure who played Annie but I guess it was Madeleine. She was really good. Her voice sometimes went a bit sharp but her acting energy and dancing was very good. Orphans were very good as well, just too bad I didnt hear a word the smallest girl said. That said, I thought the accents were awful at times anyway. Def had an US for Grace, appearance wise and acting she was good, but good God, when she started singing I wanted to cover my ears. Really liked Warbucks and the duo playing Rooster and Lily, great energy. All in all, it's def not the best thing, but just an enjoyable good night out. Annie can't do wrong with me though. oh, and why was Sandy not allowed to get her/his round of applause?

Annie must have the worst audiences currently in London. It was horrible audience wise when I saw it.

A full audio recording of this has appeared on youtube. I'm quite sad I didn't get to see Miranda Hart now. Madeleine is Annie in the recording and it was PAINFUL listening to her singing 'Tomorrow.' She is going to destroy her voice singing like that.

Announcing the new Miss Hannigan in three days time. Any ideas? I heard rumours of Catherine Tate a while ago, but that was before Craig was cast so I assume it's dead in the water now.

I’m guessing a big name if they’re doing a count down post. I wonder if this will be the last Miss Hannigan, or if we’ll get someone ‘big’ just for Christmas then someone ‘lesser’ to finish it.

Catherine would be a decent choice as Miss Hannigan, relatively few actresses or actors have played the role in recent years, so it will be interesting to see who it is.
Someone like Tracey Bennett would be fantastic but she is tied up with Follies, I'd love a big musical theatre name to have a crack at the role.

But then the sound was bad there for Grease, Viva Forever (Insert joke) and the ensemble bits of Ghost too. The speakers still look the same.... lead Grace was fine when I saw her, As was Lily. . CRH was good, girls were very good, but let down by soundman. Dog just seemed to go for cross stage walks on its own, and ran to a treat . Dogs seem undertrained and phoning it in these days. The ones in Legally on tour seem to have half the lines they did in it in the Savoy production too.

I can confirm it'll definitely be a female performer, an actress with experience in comedy, and not anyone who has already been named in this thread. I promised I wouldn't name names but I'm pretty excited about it, and based on the thread so far I'd be fairly surprised if anyone managed to guess correctly.

Are they British or American, if you are allowed to say. That said the dream would be Rebel Wilson.

Oh, I don't think confirming she's British gives anything away. But I appreciate I'm teetering on the line between "person who knows a secret" and "person who wants everyone to know she knows a secret" so I'm going to gently leave the thread now.

Don't worry @baemax you've got the right tone - if you'd come on here like "OMG guys I know who it is. Gonna be amazing. Soz can't tell you" then that's when we'd extradite you

10am announcement - although I’m sure Baz will tel us tonight.
Video on twitter doesn’t give much away really - although she looks ‘older’ - by that I mean older than Miranda Hart is.

Miss Hannigan is an over the top type almost Panto like baddie, so you'd think that there would be a lot of middle aged or older Musical Theatre even dramatic actresses who would fancy a crack at that role and in the West End you should be able to get a decent name. I'm not sure what age she is supposed to be as within the last few years she has been played by actresses aged under 40 to nearly 70 but I'd think it would be an ideal role for a leading actress in her 40's to 50's..

daniel & danieljohnson14 have you both really never heard of Meera Syal?!?!? She's got quite the impressive body of work. Not sure if I've ever heard her sing/be in a musical.
