Samantha Barks must be getting paid SO MUCH MONEY… She’s great in the show but this will be her third year with it. Disney is def showing her the money and likely a car to and from the theatre. Correct...

She is worth every penny! She totally gets the role, and gives a multi-dimensional Elsa who hits all of the ‘Disney’ beats whilst hinting at something darker going on.

She is great but it's a shame no one else is getting a shot at Elsa, especially if it doesn't last another year.

She is fantastic for sure....not saying she doesn't deserve it. Only saying that for someone who is known in musical theatre circles, I am sure she's been offered other things, so for her to stay with Frozen, they definitely are showing her the "love."

It’s obviously a role that gives her flexibility to peruse her other endeavours, such as her tv show commitments.

I assume as new cast recently announced, and unlikely to record a cast album this late, its either
* Sing along performance
* Closing and touring
* Filming for disney plus
Not sure 'a dangerous' announcement would be it closing though. Do shows usually hype up a closure announcement? I don't remember any that have off top of my head.

Stunt cast someone minor? Idina doing a fortnight? Kristin Bell doing a turn? Experiment with live reindeer? Have an actual chipmunk play Anna?

It's closing folks (but do agree with wording is weird!) Closing at the end of the current booking period or earlier? I assume it's the former. I know the pandemic was a factor but it's an achievement for the West End production to have run longer than Broadway. I wonder what's planned for Drury Lane?

Sam’s version of Dangerous to Dream is now on Spotify so I’m assuming this is the announcement. Not sure if it’s a full cast recording, would be a bit of a shame for the original cast if so, but great nonetheless.

It would be bizarre to them have recorded it with the second cast and not the first. Can only assume barks has recorded the three big numbers?

If it’s only extending an extra two months then it makes me think that this will be the final extension.

God is that it? For announcements like this I do wish they'd just announce them rather than do the whole announcement of an announcement thing - I think the latter is daft anyway, though if they have to do it for Heaven's sake save it for the really big stuff!
Nice song though.

Ah I'd been told this was closing in Jan but they didn't have anything to go in its place - would make sense for it to extend to March if they've got something in April to go in. Very weird to only extend by 2 months when they did a big extension a matter of months ago...

I'm adding 2+2 and possibly getting five but My Neighbour Totoro is finishing in March at the Barbican and is selling very well so possibly that could transfer to Drury Lane?

I have no info on what's going on currently - Drury lane is a massive space to fill and is not particularly attractive to producers on the whole I don't think

I'd imagine Frozen will come off in the next year or so, even if the rumours about it closing in January weren't true.
It's still had an incredibly good run for a theatre that size - and looking at seating plans for next couple of weeks it's really not doing that badly.
I hope they find something else for that theatre and I'd love it if there could be another open ended run of a musical. But agree it's vast size probably puts producers off. Would be a shame if it became like the Palladium as, well, we already have the Palladium doing the Palladium. Or worse, just put on limited runs of trash like the Dominion and Dirty Dancing etc.
I guess it's best bet is big revivals! Though as I've alluded to on other threads they do seem to rely on the original audience coming back and often fail to find a new one....
Are there any on the cards? Assume Oliver wouldn't go there again as these days surely will be a DMT theatre.
(If only we could have another 10 year run of Miss Saigon and a John Napier set I say lol).

I think if they're able to cut the capacity of Drury Lane to say 1500-1600, My Neighbour Totoro could have a nice run there. It's not a musical but the scale of it requires a large stage.

Might be going mad but when the new Drury Lane was unveiled did they say they could stage things in the round there and that the auditorium was adaptable?
Honestly can't see how but maybe the next show could do this as the proverbial/fabled "something different."
