Everyone else offered the role turned it down. She's hardly going to draw the crowds is she! Do you know others then who turned it down?

Genuinely haven't heard of any of the cast. Not necessarily a bad thing but it slightly worries me that the general public just won't fork out those extortionate prices. I agree with this. I thought they would get a huge headliner. Never heard of Sheena Easton Chris do i feel old! She is hardly an unknown ffs

She hasn't had a high profile in the UK since the 1980s.

Do wonder how long Rusty spent sitting waiting by the phone during the peak period of Chicago stunt casting
Incidentally if you want to see something jaw dropping search YouTube for "rusty lee faith brown blackface"

She hasn't had a high profile in the UK since the 1980s. I only know Sheena Easton from her 'We've Got Tonight' duet with Kenny Rogers, and then his live duet version with Dolly where she sings 'We've got tonight, who needs Sheena Easton?' made all the better due to their clashing 9 to 5 songs.

I've heard of Sheena Easton but don't know anything about her at all. I'm 31 if that says anything!
I'm not an Emmerdale fan but I'm excited about Tom Lister, he was in panto in Sunderland a couple of years ago and while the panto was pretty crap, he was very good.

As for 42nd Street casting, I think there's quite a bit of better casting they could've done for both Peggy and Dorothy. I do wonder how many people they approached before they went with Sheena as the 'headliner'

I mean how well are tickets selling? In that massive venue with a musical that granted is well known but rhere was hardly a demand for it to return anytime soon, I do wonder if these factors had any big stars worked off the idea of taking on the roles, concerned this could either have success or be out before the end of 2017.

Considering how many "resting" actors there are at any given time and how few juicy West End leading parts, I'm sure there will have been interest in these roles, but I'm also sure Sheena Easton wasn't the first one they called. Maybe the pay they offer was too unattractive for many? I'm old enough to remember her, but while there are tons of names that make me go "oh yes, I remember her" there are way fewer that make me say "oh wow, I want to see her/him on stage".

That is true. Not sure how it is selling at the moment, I doubt it'd be heaving busy until nearer the time. Again, it is a huge theatre so selling it out could be tricky. I'm interested to see if this is a limited run or if it is being aimed to be an open run. They could of cast a few big names in this show that would've worked really well!! It is probably due to my age but I have never heard of Sheena Easton.

I'm 22 and I know of her name, my Mum used to mention her, but I don't know who she is or whar she has sung etc. I'm guessing she is a big deal if people are excited and it is in the newspaper that she is doing it.

I was really looking forward to this, but am thoroughly underwhelmed by the casting.

So because you haven't heard of her she wont be any good? Dorothy Brock isnt a big role and has sometimes been cast with a 'name' In the original Drury Lane production she was played by Jill Gascoine, an actress who was known for a tv show at the time. She would only have been known by people in the UK. At least Sheena Easton can sing and is known around the world for foreign visitors. She's a modern girl - nah nah nah nah nah..... Great 80's tune!!

I'm interested to see if this is a limited run or if it is being aimed to be an open run. Cast contracts are for a year so that does sound like it's not a strictly limited run.

Have seen Sheena several times, most recently at Las Vegas. She can sing and act and I am sure will be great in the role. She has performed continually since the 80's on tour and in Vegas and Broadway. Also in Miami Vice for a brief spell. Saw Tom Lister in Waterbabies in Leicester a while back. Have to say he was brilliant and am really looking forward to seeing them both.
Sheena is the only act in history to have top 5 songs in 5 different billboard charts! Now there's a fact I am sure many of you could have lived without.
