Going tonight to see Norman Bowman as Julian Marsh. :-) I'm going on Saturday. When I originally booked I booked for the matinee, assuming that the opera I was already booked for on the same day was in the evening. I then found the opera was a matinee so had to book 42nd Street for the evening. Apologies to any fans of seat A1 that it'll be wasted for the matinee! At least it's cheap so I'm only wasting £15.

I'll speak to him and will post his confirmed dates once I know. :-) He did so well by the way. You wouldn't have guessed it was his first time playing the part.

I'll speak to him and will post his confirmed dates once I know. :-) I'm pretty sure once dates are confirmed they get put on his website www.normanbowman.comAt the moment it just mentions now and 17th-23rd of August which I guess is much too early to count as autumn.

Yeah, I didn't count August as autumn. :-) But there are some potential dates in late October / early November, some in December, January and February.

I had a BALL at this today. Got a ticket through TodayTix and with a referral code ended up getting H39 in the Royal circle for £15! Bargain of the year!
What fun this show is though. Clare Halse is a star. A star is born. I have never seen anyone tap like that. Honestly. Bloody magnificent! Was surprised that I really enjoyed Sheena Easton! I wasn't convinced on her casting originally but she's perfect as Dorothy Brock, and bloody hell she can sing! Norman Bowman was on for Julian Marsh, and was great. Very believable and you saw him warming to Peggy. Few line fluffs but I don't think he'd been on many times (they were mainly top of the show, once he got going he was fine)
My mouth hit the floor during the title number. Gobsmacked. Don't want to ruin it but those who have seen will know (when they come back on in their second costumes and then don't stop). Well deserved standing ovation at the end of the song.
4.5 stars from me - it's because of the ending. I hadn't realised that 42nd Street reprise was the end, and then they just started bowing! Felt unfinished , so that's where it loses the .5 but that's material not production!

This is a great show for meeting fellow board members! Back in March I met @posterj & anthony40 & today I briefly met daniel, for matinee ticket handover, & then dippy & I found ourselves sitting next to each other tonight. Unsurprisingly there were lots of fans & his friends in to see Norman Bowman on for Julian Marsh & afterwards he scooped up the lot of us, 15 in total, & took us onto the stage. Wow, it's big!

I was amazed when he beckoned me to join the group, especially as I hadn't even had a chance to speak to him before that, with so many people waiting. It's only the 3rd time I've got to go backstage & the other 2 times were arranged in advance (Phantom & Wicked, both with the same actor).

Dawnstar I was in Norman's backstage lot tonight so I must have seen you. He literally showed a whole group around after each show since Thursday this week - popular man. :-) He had already taken me and my friend in on Thursday but decided we should just come along again. It's lovely he had so many people coming to support him during his first run as Julian Marsh. And while he was great on Thursday you could really see how much more confident he had become by Saturday evening.

I too met a fellow board member at the matinee yesterday but didn't manage to catch her eye at the end to say bye because she was too busy hob-nobbing with Marc Almond! He was sitting next to me in the front row, he saw it a couple of weeks ago and had to return to the front row because he loved it so much. I couldn't persuade him to join me at Kinky Boots in the evening though

Steffi Sorry I didn't know you were there. Were you with Sabrina? If so then I'm the one who came over & said hello to her while we were onstage.

Steffi Hello! I know Sabrina a bit from when we were both Wicked/Cassidy Janson fans back in 2007-8.

If you cannot wait for your next visit to Drury Lane, you might want to listen to next Friday's 'Friday Night Is Music Night - Michael Feinstein sings Harry Warren' on BBC Radio 2. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08x1tjwI was lucky enough to be at the recording of the show last night at the Mermaid Theatre. They performed several numbers from 42nd Street - including some tap dancing! - four of the orchestra danced white shoes on vertical black boards. Really good hearing the music when performed by a large orchestra. The singers were not at all bad either. We even had an encore of 'We're In The Money' due to retakes.
