Saying you cannot have a fair judgement if you are sitting in a cheap seat is bogus. People who sit is a cheap seat and even then they've might had to splash out, generally really appreciate the theatrical piece more, like marriages where people had to scrimp and save are the ones that tend to go the distance, because they had to work at it, so appreciate what they got - people who have everything on a plate, what they have has no value so therefore meaninless, people who sit in expensive seats can also have a smug entitlement. I'm a student, who usually sees a show a week right now (sometimes even three shows in a week when I have the time and can get a few bargains, but that's pretty rare), I generally don't pay above £20 for a ticket. I always buy the cheapest seats and have just started doing day seats - so I can totally agree with this. My experience of Wicked from the £18 hasn't changed how I feel about it compared to when I've seen it from seats retailing at £70. I saw 42nd Street from the front row of the balcony (so a £15 seat), and still fell in love with this show.

Went again yesterday. What a show! Went in in a fairly downbeat mood, but came out with a big grin. Still feeling it today.

I saw this yesterday afternoon and loved it. I hadn't realised what a good voice Sheena Easton has and thought Clare Halse was fantastic but for me the real stars of the show are the chorus. The synchronicity of the tap work and the many costume, shoe and wig changes they have to do is what makes this show. The scene towards the end when the staircase comes forward and they are all tapping for dear life sent a tingle down my spine. Magnificent!

Whats the dayseat situation? It says on the website for the show it is front stalls or front circle, do they choose the seats on the day based on what is available? My friend went and got L1 and L2 in the stalls so I'm guessing it is edges of stalls or whatevers free?

The synchronicity of the tap work and the many costume, shoe and wig changes they have to do is what makes this show. The scene towards the end when the staircase comes forward and they are all tapping for dear life sent a tingle down my spine. Magnificent! I was in Saturday night and wholeheartedly agree with you! I had high expectations after all the hype on here, but it did not disappoint. What I noticed first was the atmosphere in the theatre just before the overture - it seemed electric for some reason and as soon as Mr Conductor waved his baton and turned to the audience grinning a few of us round me were off into 42nd Street land! I don't like people singing through musicals, but the nice couple behind me were just lapping the whole thing up and we all sang along at a couple of bits - not much and not loudly, but we couldn't help it! My daughter and friend were in A0 and A1 and I was a few rows further back - even those end seats had a great view. I had no complaints, it was so thoroughly enjoyable that I liked everything. Sheena was great! Not perfect, but perfectly believable! All I heard on the way out was "best show I've seen" etc. What an incredible cast, how do they keep those smiles up the whole way through? Definitely 5 stars from me.

Sheena was great! Not perfect, but perfectly believable! With this show I'm never sure whether praise for whoever plays Dorothy Brock is positive or negative. "She was completely believable as an out of her depth, washed up has-been."

Does anyone know how this show is doing at the box office? People who are going Are tending to be older and more well off Hence paying full price for stalls and dress circle All levels are open most night But balcony always a hard sell at this venue They had been closing that level some Monday and Tuesday nights but has been open this week and into half term Midweek matinees and end of the week evenings Doing best The unsold tickets are all at the lower prices And absence of mainstream offers or any TKTS reductions The average person going is paying a full amount for this Lots of people from out of town and many tourists 9 months run for now

I'm going next week. Does this mean I am indirectly funding @parsley 's fabulous designer lifestyle?

I had no idea this was a limited run! I've somehow missed that somewhere I don't think it officially is a limited run, it's just not expected to run for an especially long time!

As this and An American in Paris opened roughly at the same time it will be interesting to see which has the longer run. I have already seen this twice and intend to pay several more visits. One viewing of An American in Paris was enough.
