Remember critics don't choose the star amount; the editors do that. For some stupid reason.

Probably the book is penalizing it and it's not totally wrong.

4 stars mixed with 5
Are fine
Bend it had almost universal raves
And look what happened there
The ES and Metro will be important ones

One review has blabbed the staging costs
In fact i think with advertising costs it is close to
9 million

Quick question about the £15 seats. Are seats A0 and A24 on an aisle?? I can't work it out from photos.

Drat. Thanks though. Back to the drawing board then. Pretty sure there's a gap/aisle between the end of the row and the wall - just trying to picture whether it runs all the way forward to A. (The Monkey will know!)

Cannot believe the 3* review in the Guardian. Even surprised by 4* (though some do read as 5*, so that's interesting editorial decisions being made). This is, in my opinion, an unquestionable 5* show where any grievances I had with the book (which were not many, as I knew what to expect) were completely and utterly eclipsed by the sheer production values, the likes of which I've never seen before. Add to that the extraordinary talent on display on stage, off stage, backstage, in the pit, wherever, all 5* worthy. Hope it doesn't make this show suffer under the "22 5* reviews" that American In Paris have apparently pulled out the bag - though I have yet to see AiP, and I fully plan to at some point in the near future!
Yes, you shouldn't have to compare them, but the likelihood and reality is that many people will not be afforded the luxury of getting to see both shows (you could maybe even add On The Town into the mix of classic Broadway shows once it opens), and will be forced to make a choice to maybe see just 1. Reviews, as much as we may discount them sometimes, can ultimately help in that decision. For my money, 42nd Street would take a hell of a lot of beating!

Looking at the half empty seating plans for AAIP The reviews haven't really helped it The same critic Gave that show 5 stars I am sure because the book in that show is so sophisticated Even I mistook it for the Booker Prize Winner
