Getting a bit worried as I bought my seat last Saturday for this Saturday's matinee & the ticket hasn't turned up yet. My ticket for tomorrow afternoon arrived in the post this morn, so you should get them today! 😊

I remember the touring production and it wasn't fit to lace this ones boots. That video makes the touring production look way better than the reality

Wasn't the UK Productions just a cheap tour? The video with the split and multiple screens on the website are just hiding the paucity of cast! This production demonstrates how to produce the show properly! It was a smaller cast and yes obviously cheaper but as it says it was based on the broadway production and apparently the sets were the same. the design if nothing else is pretty similar to drury lane. drury lane is just more polished and bigger. Both are effectively versions of the same production, one just grander than the other

Did anyone see the 1989 touring version which included Lynda Baron in the cast? That was the last time I saw this show, but was that production based on the 1980 original?

I don't think megamusicals were really a thing back then. At the time 42nd Street opened in the UK Cats had been running for just over 3 years, Starlight Express had been open a few months, and Phantom and Les Miserables had yet to appear. The producers of 42nd Street said that their production was a very expensive one that could take four to five months to recoup, so the several-year run it eventually achieved was a resounding success. It was only about a decade later that people started having expectations that shows would run and run until they became semi-permanent features of the landscape. People forget that shows that run for decades are the exception and not the norm and a show isn't a failure if it only runs 18 months to 2 years.

Saw a tour of this a while back with Marti Webb and Dave Willetts, thought it was semi decent.

Why do you start a new paragraph for every half sentence ? Excitement Hands shaking As the word spreads And the tickets start selling 👯👯👯 Why do you write in a Haiku style?

On leaving,at the end of the show, I just felt Sheena E was not a right fit for this show, may be she is still mourning for the Purple one. A more seasoned performer on the boards may have provided a more convincing performance.

She's not Christine Ebersole, but frankly who is. I thought she was good in the role.

This is great and the £15 seats were an absolute steal!
Very unusually I think you'd be getting your money's worth even at the top price - there's so much up on stage
Agree the book is thin (I mean, who does she end up with at the end??) but it's an amazing spectacle
Sheena is ideal as the diva of a certain age. I thought the finale dance number after the curtain call deals with the oddity about the bows - Sheena gets her star billing curtain call, then other woman (sorry don't know who she is but she was very good) takes centre stage again

And I agree, when she re-entered for her final number, she received a huge round of applause from the audience.

Also saw the show tonight and really enjoyed it, it's a real spectacle where you can see the money on stage with fabulous costumes, a huge cast and a decent set. Even though the book is thin and the jokes are very corny, it's doesn't matter as you enjoy for what is and just swept away with the amazing dancing and that great score.

Row A for me. What an absolute bargain! Have to say this is hands down one of the best experiences I've had at a musical for a while. When the dance routines get going it almost takes your breath away. Will be strongly encouraging everyone I know to pay it a visit.

I won't be in town until mid-July. The only £15 ticket are for A0,A1 and A23, A24. Guess I'm too late for the good seats....

Too many good comments so took the plunge and picked up a last minute ticket for the matinee today in Row E. I guess I will miss out on the excitement of Row AA and Row A but hopefully any forumites in front of us will be small so we get clear view of stage!

I've taken ages to book 2 of these £15 row A tickets. In case anyone else is trying, I had to put them in my basket one at a time - if I tried to put 2 into the basket at the same time a message came up telling me that they were no longer available. Also, I have checked what felt like a hundred dates and the £15 row AA are not coming up as available.
Thank you to @theatremonkey and everyone else who's commented about this bargain - I've already paid full price for front row in July and have added a cheap April date in as well - virtually in the same place!

That's right, as the rest of those rows stop being £15 from the end of April. I think even those end seats will still be a bargain at £15 I hope so. I bought A1. I previously thought that, other than Harry Potter, that I wasn't that interested in London theatre. And then I found this group!! So far have tickets to 42nd Street, The Tempest and Harry Potter. And I'm keeping an eye out for any deals to Half a Sixpence. And now trying to decide between Twelfth Night or Much Ado About Nothing at The Globe. I want to decide this weekend on those as tickets are selling quickly. I'm past standing in the Yard. I live 3 hours from New York but Broadway is too expensive for me. I can't even imagine how much they will charge for HP when it comes over here.

Just out of the matinee. Goodness, what an all out joyful spectacle this is. They have to be the best drilled ensemble in London while you couldn't ask for a better leading lady than Clare Halse. I'm giddy as a kipper after that! Stagey heaven.
