You must also add in the Wicked and Shrek UK Tours. Then add in that most of the pantos will have finished.
There's going to be so many people going up for whatever show auditions next! It's going to be really tough times.

This is a special little video to share. This is the audience after the Orchestra finished, pretty much no one had left the theatre at Thai point. http://instagram.com/p/BsiWkvGH9kW

I'll be putting on the cast recording in eight minutes time and wishing it was last Saturday.

I'm reading this thread back from the beginning and good lord I really wasn't that much on board when it was first announced. Wow. Hope it's a fun read. I know that I didn't really enjoy the show the first time round. I only returned because I wanted to see Norman playing Julian which was great but I hated that Philip was Pat. However I discovered that only after one show I had learnt quite a bit of Philip's track because I remember being muddled when I saw a girl in his position in Sunny Side but later checked the official photos and I had correctly remembered his position. I then returned again about a week or so later because Philip was playing Billy and that was what finally made me love it.

I'm reading this thread back from the beginning and good lord I really wasn't that much on board when it was first announced. Wow. Oh, I wasn't keen on the announcement of 42nd St either danieljohnson14But in my defence I was expecting some tired revival - minimal scenery, cast of 20 - desperately trying to fill the vast stage, band of 8, lots of click track. You get the idea? However, on learning more about the scale of the production I booked a £15 front row ticket for the first preview and was COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY by the scale of the whole thing! It was such a treat to see such old fashioned production values after years of "stripped" down and "actor musician" musicals. I returned many times after that and I am not usually a repeat visitor to shows. The whole preview was summed up for me when, as I left the theatre a young man was on his mobile phone saying to a friend "OMG I've never seen anything like it!"

Well it just goes to show how special this show was to people. From the curtain dropping for the final time until mid day the day after the 42nd St thread had 34 posts about it. For the same time period for Kinky Boots there had been just 7 and they were not particularly interesting! I don't care what anyone says, 42nd St was the most spectacular piece of musical theatre in the West End these past two years and the like of it will not be seen again in the West End for a very long time - nothing will come anywhere close to it. ( No disrespect to Kinky Boots!)

Yes Dreamgirls finished too on Saturday evening and little fuss on here about that either. I think it is a testament to the 42nd St company that they maintained the standard throughout the run. Dreamgirls with recasting was not the same show at the end.

Anyone been on the 42nd Street website lately? If not, don't, it's depressing. I was hoping that I could go and look through the photos on there, but nope, all gone

Seriously? Rude! Let us at least see some pictures!
Even the Viva Forever! website has videos and stuff and the show closed 6 years ago.

All I can hope is they're planning something better to take over the space - perhaps details of the recording or the tour.

What I'd love to see happen, and I don't know if it will, is for it to either be revived with news of the tour yet the tour is a while off yet if it does go ahead soon. But even then, what would be lovely is to dedicate it to the filmed release and have the cast information of people in the recording etc. And list the Ensemble in their minor roles etc too.

I think it would be nice if they put up a ‘reopens 2020 sign’ up outside when this comes down. Just make it not look like an abanonded buiolding.
